and cleaned 'm up! Not a lot of people know this, but the mk1 focus RS (2002-3) used exactly the same brembo's and the Cobra R. Managed to score these locally and cheap.

Did you clean/blast them before paint? Do those bolt right up to your spindles?

Nice score. Where'd you find them?

When I was looking to upgrade I read a lot about those, but have yet to even find any. I don't think* they were exactly the same, but very close.

Great job on cleaning them up. Now your rears will look like poo. :)

That's because the focus RS was never a US option.

spent 2 days sanding and cleaning them best I could... Found 'm locally, they 'should' just bolt up. If anyone is interested, I can keep my eyes open for more calipers.

My friend has a Mk1 RS, so he lets me know sometimes if anyone is selling:

Actually. They were the same casting number. So therefore they would be the same correct?

Just different colors.

I learned something new today as well. That setup goes for 1100.00 on American Muscle right now. Nice score!!!! You mind telling me the process on restoring old calipers? How did you manage to put the brembo logo back, is that painted or a sticker?

Interesting. Maybe it was the ford part #s that were different.

Ford partnumber were different, because they came with different pads and without rotors. The Cobra R set was always including rotors and lines. They are, apart from color, completely the same. Use the same 36mm/40mm piston setup and mounting holes.

I also learned that these calipers were found on many other cars, including 1st gen Vipers, Lotus Elise, Peugeot 406 coupe, Alfa Romeo 166, 156 GTA and GTV, Seat Lean Cupra R, etc. Those are all different mounting holes and pistonsizes and will not bolt up like the Focus RS ones.

Restoring them was quite easy, blow out the pistons with compressed air, fit new seals and dustboots and clean everything up. I sanded and cleaned before paint, you can also sandblast them. The decals are heatresistant, I cleared over them.

Bolted straight up, even using new stock replacement cobra lines.

And as you can see, (barely) fit 17"wheels.

Wow that is a tight fitment with that 17" wheel. Thanks giving me idea what the process is, what type of sand paper grit you use?

Depends on how bad the old layer is.. Brembo's are a smooth casting to begin with. I don't even remember what I used, maybe 180 and 240 grit.

I'll keep my eyes peeled. Might run into the 400s with shipping though.

I got a pair from a Peugeot 406 Coupé..

They bolts up to the spindle but they sits to low on the 13" cobra rotor so it binds up..

Going to make this work by remove some material in a lathe.. Probably need to remove 2mm

Pics of mine..

#UPDATE#

Got one side to fit today with the Peuget 406 Coupe caliper..
Had to take down the rotor 2mm on the diameter, fits perfect! The hoses and banjo bolts fits bolt on!
