My shift lock solenoid was working poorly so I disconnected the cable on the latch at the shifter. Is this unsafe to leave off? There is only one other latch that is spring loaded and releases with the shift knob button; if that broke, would the shifter flop up and back shifting out of control???
While on this subject, would an aftermarket shifter be safer or better/worth the time and money?
