I installed a pro 5.0 shifter in my 98 mustang. Now it won't go into reverse. It goes in just fine if it is loosely bolted in but doesn't at all if the bolts are snugged up. Are there any adjusments I can make or did I just get a bad shifter?

check your stops first, then if thats not it remove the shifter and reinstall it, it could be a bad shifter but I dobut it .

sounds like the stops... they have to be adjusted. there should be instructions with your shifter. ive got the MGW short throw, it was pretty simple.

the shifter was 1/8 inch longer than stock but spec'd out when I called pro 5.0. They said they'd never heard anything like it. I got the number off the tranny to make sure it hadn't been changed and called ford. They confirmed it was a T-45. I ended up making a 1/8 inch plate to go in between the shifter and the tranny and now it's worked great for over a week.
