Ok so, I’ve got a 98 gt auto convertible that had a blown head gasket, and then I crashed it, snapping the rear axle. This is what I have planned for it. It’s hopefully going to be my daily.

***THINGS I ALREADY HAVE BOUGHT***
REAR END- ford racing lsd, 31 spline axles, 3.73 gears
TRANS- built 4r70w from Darrin @ BC Automotive, 10 in high stall converter from PTC (I forget the stall number)
ENGINE- PI HEADS, ALL GASKETS NECESSARY
EXHAUST- long tubes, aftermarket h pipe with high flow cats
I also have a bunch of miscellaneous parts like an upgraded starter, water pump, thermostat, billet oil pump and gear.

***THINGS I HAVE PLANNED***
BOTTOM END - Forged internals, 4032 pistons, forged Manley h beam rods, forged Manley cranks, clevite h series bearings, and ARP studs, bolts, and fasteners, and a canton windage tray (The goal is to bullet proof the bottom end so it’s future proofed for a centrifugal supercharger setup in the next couple years and some trick flow heads)

CAMS- as I said before, this is going to be my daily, but I want it to have some more power, and before I go forced induction, and top end kit, I wanted to add a cam while it’s still N/A. Something that still makes sense for a daily but will add some power and torque without sacrificing a lot. I’m stuck between the mhs stage 2 cams and the comps 262ah.
I’ve also emailed MHS for advice.

SUSPENSION- feal 441 coil overs, with their caster/camber plates, the mm shock mounts, and some various bmr suspension replacements for stock control arms etc.

Any thoughts? I don’t have many people to ask, no one I know is experienced with sn95s

I'm curious why you're doing a high stall rpm torque converter on a daily that's how you spill your hot cocoa in traffic

Based on your planned ideas why not run the engine how it is while building a 2nd engine or buy an upgraded reman? Compared with buying a whole mess of parts a la carte the seasoned block is the cheap part.

Coyote swap

You can make decent power with a blown 2V but you'll be damn lucky to make 300 whp until then. Prepare to get dusted by everyone.

I’ve got a truck to daily for right now, so I have room to work on this thing. And the reason is because the head gaskets are blown, I need to rebuild the top end and have the block decked anyway, so I’m taking that opportunity to bullet proof the bottom end too.

As for the high stall… idk I told Darrin about my build and he recommended Ptc, so I told them about my build and they built me a torque converter.

Oh I know, I just like building the 2v, maybe I’ll street race a few randos, and my friends, but the goal isn’t something that’s guaranteed to win competitions, just something fun that I built with myself, my dad, and some friends. And when I want to add power in the future, itll handle it. Still might not win me any awards, but it’ll be fast, fun, and most importantly, mine to be proud of.

Don’t you need a higher stall as a support mod for other things?

I do get that and both of my SN's were sub-300 whp at time. I am just one of the local Coyote swap nutcases.

Higher stall RPM pretty much just lets you launch at a higher engine RPM (where your engine is already making more power) when drag racing. Anywhere else it just makes cars feel sloppy and jerky as you transition in and out of stall at varying road speeds, heats up trans fluid, burns gas..

The guy that built my trans had that in mind, so it should be able to handle it

If I was trying to move around a convertible with a 4.6 in any sort of rapid fashion I would be looking at gears - 3.73’s or 4.10’s. And if you are building a motor why not build a 5.4? With stock heads you won’t see a lot of horsepower improvement but the Torque… and Torque is king from light to light. Just my .02 worth

Funny you mention that, I have a set of 3.73s that are going in. And I just like the 4.6, and I’ve already got it
