331 make more hp and rev higher and dont oiling problems. 347 make more torque usually but also last about 20k and need to be gone through again.

Sweeet. What are the specs on the new engine?

Well, im looking at a 331 rotating assembly, forged rods, forged probe pistons, and cast crank.

Hoping to have the compression somewhere around 9.5- 10:1 and ill just be reusing the top end i already have.

RIght now its all in the works, so if anyone has any good ideas, or hook ups with parts, feel free to let me know

Stock block split at 500+ horses, and all those compenents will hold more than that. some see it as a waste of money, others see it as piece of mind.

Me and Stopsign have butt heads on this subject before. I agree with leaving the crank stock...but I wouldn't trust a stock rod past 450 FLY WHEEL HP. They've lived past that but they've also failed before it. If I were doing a BUDGET motor over, I'd slap stock crank , forged rods and pistons and a hp hit of spray. BUT a cheap stroker will make a great street motor as well. Nothing wrong with KNOWING your motor CAN make 500 to the wheels rather than shooting in the dark. To each their own though..
