Seriously. The speedometer in this car sticks. It seriously hangs up between 45-65. I've got video of it. Debating on uploading it to youtube. It's obviously internal to the speedometer itself. The odometer works fine. No issues with that. I noticed that the speedometer was anywhere from 5-15mph off while I have been putting around. It was off more at times that I sped up more quickly.... and when I accelerated at a geriatric rate, it seemed to be a little closer to where it should be. But when I was bedding the new brakes in, I caught the needle hang, then drop abruptly. I managed to record it. It definitely hangs up in the 46-65 range.
While back, I came across someone who had documented a similar issue with the old XJ Cherokee speedometers and took one apart and "serviced" it. Not sure if anyone has seen this or had a fix for it. Haven't come across anything in my searches so far.
Turn down the volume. I had the top down.
