Hi,
While I was driving my 5-speed, 1999 mustang gt, I started hearing a consistent thumping, that sped up and fell with the revs, under the front passenger side of the car. I had driven to the corner store and while driving back, I heard a weird noise before the brakes became extremely hard, Super stiff consistently all the way through pressing, while there was nearly 0 brake pressure. I Also lost power steering. Pretty scary. I had issues with the rear brake lines being ground by the driveshaft, not really sure if it's that, just wanted to add anything that might help diagnosing. I'm planning lifting the car up tomorrow. I was just hoping I might get some tips on where to look if anyones had a similar issue :)
Thanks!

Check the belt is still there, check for leaks at the pump, leaks at the hydrobooster, ruptured lines, etc. And don't drive it until the problem is found. If you're not confident enough to self-diagnose the car's problem, you'll have to tow it to a shop. Brakes are the most important system on any car. It's currently undriveable.

Hey! Theres supposed to be something there! Not much investigation to be done lol, the shop manual says the part # is 8620, but I get a little confused googling for the exact part. It's for a 1999 mustang gt, if anyone could direct me to the correct one, I would really appreciate the help :) Thanks!

Check all of your pulleys spin freely, might be a good time to replace the idler and tensioner while you are there.
The belt may have failed due to old age and it may have had a little help from a seized pully.

You can get them all as a set.

It sounds like you are on the right path. The power steering pump also provides hydraulic power to the brake booster - hydroboost. Kind of scary to lose both at the same time.
As noted above make sure all the pulleys spin freely, power steering pump included. Along with my Mustang, my wife's Tahoe runs on the same system. Her power steering pump went out and chewed up the belt. Fortunately it was a couple blocks from home.

what has all been done to the suspension that the brake lines are rubbing?
Hi, so sorry, I missed this message. A bunch of hangers on the bottom were broke before I bought it. The brake line to the rear brakes was grinding against the drive shaft >_< I moved it, but I haven't replaced. Now that I'm in a more stable housing/life situation, I really need to do it.

Wow! yeah it was hella scary honestly. First time I've ever been in a car and not felt in control. I had pretty much the same thing happen as your wife haha I was like three blocks from home. Almost hit a fire hydrant because my wheel was suddenly 3,000lbs and I had no breaks, but Fuck it, we ball.

Wouldn't be me if something didn't go wrong. Can't seem to understand. I ordered a 1999 mustang 4.6l v8 SOHC belt tensioner kit, and when I went to put it on, it has 3 exterior bolts, and none in the center? Am I fucking dumb? Pics attached. if anyone could clear it up, I would love help, thanks.

Sorry if I put you crook on that part, that is the part for a 99, I checked rock autos site and all 99's look like that. Maybe someone could chime in if they know why they are different.
All the 2000 & up are single centre bolt, you should be able to exchange it for the proper one.
Here is a pic of my 2002 for reference, looks similar to the one in your previous pic.

There are a few front cover variations for the modular 2valve 4.6l. Lincoln town cars, mercury marquis, mercury cougar, explorer, f150, expedition, and mustang. For the majority most used a common front cover. If I recall the lincolns were the oddball. So with this info, look around at other model cars to match up your particular part.

No, you have been incredibly helpful! The car was sold to me as a 1999, and I never double checked (first car I ever bought haha I learned a lot). I'll go look to make sure so I know for the future. I'll call rock auto and figure it out :) thank you so much for all your help! Absolutely beautiful engine bay by the way. I would love mine to look as clean as yours.
