Supercharging versus Heads

I've been looking [as the title suggests] into either fitting a Vortech, or buying some AFR 1402 cylinder heads. Obviously the cylinder heads are quite a bit cheaper, and bolt straight on.
I assume these heads could take advantage of the SVO manifold [cobra] and 65mm throttle body and cold air intake? I know the Vortech would really boost power on a planetary scale, but what sort of gain would the heads give in comparison? I read on here fitting a cam is not such a great idea, so these seem to be my best options. ;)

The blower is going to make more power plain and simple and plus its MUCH easier to put on your car. Heads will give you a good decent gain maybe like 70 + maybe more.

My other thinking was the cars done just over 50k [barely run in] if i was changing the heads, i could decoke the engine and fit new head gaskets etc.
70 seems quite good for heads alone, Vortech list hp from the standard: 215 up to 319 with the S\Charger which = about 104.
Supercharger = about $3000 plus shipping and vat. Heads about $1375 plus shipping and vat, [and assorted gaskets etc] about $1500 approx.
So heads are about half the price but you get a good performance gain v the s\charger.

I personally went the heads/cam/intake route first to start off with a good platform. I then added the blower about 6 months later and really woke it up. I don't know where you heard that a cam is not a good idea, but they are wrong. Yes people make pretty good power with a stock cam but you can also pick up another 20-30 hp on a good heads/intake motor. You really need to get it tuned either way so you might want to factor that in also.

My suggestion would be to call or email Ed Curtis at FTI and get some AFR's from him and have him match the valve springs with the cam and also have him do a custom cam.

Thanks for the help, i bought the AFR 1402 heads, and assorted Fe-Pro gaskets, studs, etc, to fit them with [from Jegs, as they ship to the UK] in fact they are on their way now.
It would be nice to the whole wild cam and roller rocker path, but as i only ever see it having a mild street cam later, these heads should do some good.
I'm going to save up for a Vortech for next year, which should really push power up, my real problem is living here, you ring suppliers and of course none of them have anything in stock, and they only want to sell you what they do have.
This site is a great place for help, when i asked one place here what they thought of AFR heads they asked what they were. :(

I have two buddies with 5.0 SN-95s

One just installed a trickflow H/C/I. Cost about $3K when it was all said and done.

The other is installing a Vortech. He get it for like $1700 used with alot of parts. It will probably be around $3k when hes done too.

Im waiting to see which one is faster now. :)

I'd put the supercharger on first if you want the hp right away, then get the other stuff later
