Some of these pics I have posted before but I wanted to start a progress page. I picked up my 98 GT in March of 2012, the prev. owner didn't touch the engine and had only lowered it, added some fugly headlights, Cobra R hood and billit grille, o/r x with flows out the back and did the wheels. This is how she looked when I picked her up. I found some stock lights and painted the grille black as quickly as I could.
Shortly there after I picked up a set of factory Cobra wheels to get rid of the 19's and I also found a full set of black leather seats since the front seats were shot, here is how she sat for the past year.
A few weeks ago while driving home, my hood unlatched and did some decent damage to the car. Fortunately I wasn't going terribly fast and I was on a side street heading to my house. Here is the damage I was really hoping the hood wasn't too damaged but it looks to have spidered a decent amount down to the front. Not sure if it is salvageable or how much it would cost for repairs. Fortunately when I bought the car the guy gave me the stock hood as well so that's what I am rolling with now.
Last year I picked up a few parts but never got around to installing them, so now with all that needed to be repaired and maintenance I figured it would be the perfect time to spice things up a bit. My first bolt on mod! I am excited to finally start doing some things to the car and can't wait to get some more stuff in the mail. I have a set of 4.10's waiting to be installed, if anyone knows someone who can do it for a fair price between Orlando and Miami let me know. Everyone around here wants $500++ to do it.
Looks like a Speed Dawg. I wanted to get one of those. Just can't afford it for a shift knob. Maybe someday. *Edit* nevermind. Just saw you said "handle" not "knob" lol
Hah, it has began, it's so much fun too. Yea it is the MGW, not sure if it's a new design or not, it the only one pictured on their site. I do like it though, 35% reduction in throw, it's so much better than the stock shifter. Tonight I did the fog light mod deal so they come on with the parking lights.
Nice man, car looks great.. I love that cowl hood, I want one for mine. Think the problem you had was no hood pins, but I could be wrong.. 500+ just for gears!? Shit.. I got a quote for the following: Gears, new bearings, speedcal, throttlebody all for 500.. Labor sucks because people can charge whatever they feel like charging..
No doubt man I just have to get it repaired, probably work on that before I get the car painted. I've got the pins now so when it goes back on they for sure will too. So far I dig them but only driven a couple miles with them, they do feel nice. Now If I just had some new carpet I would be so much happier with the interior.
Reverse Glow with Chrome Bezels and Air Intake I have had this Steeda air intake for more than 6 months now and finally it's on. I have the shroud too but I need to get some new screws for it. I know she needs a good cleaning:embarrassed: I also got the reverse glows in along with those chrome bezels, the bezels are a pain in the butt though. I like the way it looks.
Yea the shroud did come with it. The prev. owner put some stickers on it so I think I will get those off and polish it up a bit a then install it.
Appointment Set for Gear Install Found a shop that would do my 4.10 gear install for $375, much better than the $500+ quotes I have been getting. The appointment is set for Thursday, unfortunately I will not be able to stick around for it due to work...
Man what a disappointment..... Was raining tonight and I couldn't get on it with the new gears it spins so easy. Gonna be sweet I can already tell.
