Ok guys be patient with me and I know some might say why but I have always loved fords and bmw I am in the process of installing a 302 into a bmw 325 I. Anyways I have picked up a 84 t5 transmission that was rebuilt but has a 26 spline input it's a ford t5 case and bellhousing. I know they make 26 spline t5 clutches but as far as imput shaft will their be any issues running it on a 5.0?

You'll have to check for the correct length and that the pilot bearing has the correct ID for the shaft. Beyond that who knows. Sounds like a pretty custom job

If you're using a Ford engine, and a Ford bellhousing, why not swap the input shaft back to a regular Mustang part? If you have the know-how to stuff a 302 in a BMW you've got the mechanical ability to swap the input on a T5.

It's always been my impression that part of why the t5 was weak was due to the 10 spline imput. I could be wrong as I'm more from euro world and stuff I've read but I'm taking that with a grain of salt

the actual T5 housing is weak as well, it's kinda weak all around if you drive it hard enough. are you sure it's a GM input shaft? Gforce and Astro T5s both use 26 spline input shafts.

I didn't know about Astra or Gfprce what's the main differance between them and a gm I assume something to do with internals

they're both just stronger versions of the T5, i think the gearing is slightly different too. they both have websites you can check out if you want. From what I gathered though it's kind of pointless to build internals if you're not going to get the stronger trans housing too, it's like putting forged internals in a stock 5.0 block.

Is there a way to tell the gm apart from Astra gforce. Gear count ,splines, syncs?

I have no idea, only thing i could suggest would see if they have a part number you could compare. if you contact astro performance or gforce they might be able to give you something to identify their parts with but I have no idea.
