Theres a guy in my area selling a Teksid (96-98?) Cobra motor with 5k on it for a great price.

I would be looking to swap the motor into my foxbody, and was planning on doing a 351w stroked to a 408 or 393 going either n/a or blown. Its completley a streeted car, will probably never see the track. Power goal is 500-600 rwhp.

I wanted to know some more about these motors, were these 4v or 3v heads, how good are the stock internals and how well does it handle boost.
I was thinking a Kenne Bell or paxton blower, can i see these numbers on the stock short block? and intake?

Thanks for any and all info you guys can give me,

The 96-98 Cobra use the 4 valve "B" head. The 96-98 are a higher compression ratio, I believe 10-1, and do not come stock with forged internals, accept the crankshaft. So they are not compatable with big boost applications(more than 10psi)
The Eaton supercharger off of the 03/04 Cobra will not work on the 96-98 engine, and it is extremely expensive to do the swap. The 99/04 Cobra/Mach1 uses the "C" head.

Factory ratings are 305hp and 300tq at the flywheel. My 97 Cobra is putting down 258rwhp 250rwt on a mustang dyno and is bone stock. The blocks themselves are quite strong and if I am not mistaken can handle 800+hp.

modularfords.com has an entire section devoted to modular engine swaps, and they are very helpful. When I run into potential issues with my swap that is where I go for answers.

The teksid blocks can handle up to 1200 hp. They have six bolt mains and are extremely stong.

they are very strong and as far as them being a problem due to having hypertectic pistons...i wouldn't feed too much into that...my best friend sprayed 175 shot on his 97 cobra for a year and a half.
