Just noticed that my temp gauge wasn't working properly . Popped the hood & started looking around to find the wire insulation in brittle & there's bare wire showing . Now I have to open up the wire loom & find where it's no longer brittle & splice in a new wire . Anyone else have/had this problem ? Will post up pictures later . Would this also cause my cooling fan not to come on ?

The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor isends a signal to the ECU for a whole range of functions. The dash temp gauge gets it's signal from a different sender. The dash gauge sender is on the driver's side lower intake. The ECT sensor is in the heater bypass hose above the T-stat. The cooling fan not coming on could be because of a number of different things.Bad fan relay, bad ECT sensor, bad fan motor and/or wiring. The fan should always come on if the A/C is on. The fan is also cycled between low and high when you start to pull trouble codes (DTCs).
