Fully Torqued Racing now has a kit that retro fits the newer s197 mustangs big brakes to our sn95 cars. Must have 18" wheels. Check this stuf out! Great product!

Looks to be some really nice upgrades! Im gonna be on the look out for a set of s197 brakes! The added weight of the 5.4l didnt help the braking. The stock tiny brakes just didnt give me the assurance of stopping power. Always felt like I was standing on the pedal with no response. This FTR stuff is the ticket!!

Yeah, I understand some research and engineering time went into this, but $175 for two pieces of steel with four holes each and a bag of hardware???? Still, if I can score the caliper and rotors on the cheap from a boneyard, beats the alternative I guess. Just had a thought - what about the rears?

Not sure about the rears, maybe FTR will chime in. Hey PinkieT, what price range do you feel is fair for the front kit?

Checked around kits for other cars... it about the same as the rest. Me, I guess I'm just a cheap SOB! Still thinking that the big brakes on the front and stock on the rear would look funky not to mention possibly unbalance the braking.

Nothing wrong being a cheap sob. I attend that crowd regularly. The front brakes are in dire need of help. A cobra up grade is a big help. This kit to fit 14" rotors in the wheels would create no pedal effort at all.

Since 90% of weight gets lifted off the rears in a hard braking, the rears are plenty adequate. If they were drums from the factory...oh yea! Change that crap out!

At least a solid brake pad in the rear. I run a PFC97 in the back with a ST43 in the front, and I need more rear brake. Stock Cobra brakes.

Are you saying just having a bigger pad would benefit the rears What would be idea rear caliper? Are the s197 rear brakes bigger or better? Maybe a brake caliper adapted from another vehicle like the fronts?

The thing I don't like is the requirement of 18" wheels. $175 was mentioned above but it doesn't factor in the price of 18"s and tires. 2000 Cobra R Brembos are going for $400. More then enough stopping power with correct pads and fluid.

A better rear pad is going to help. Will you drive hard enough to over heat a rear race compound brake pad with an 11.65" disc? I personally don't think so. The rear, since it does not see as much of the actual stopping power of the front, should compliment the fronts, they don't have to compete. I lock up the fronts when I try to go 11/10ths. I also don't have ABS. For looks on the street, I would suggest getting a bigger rear set up. But that is based on looks. I ordered the baer basic 13" kit for the rear on my daily so it fills up my 18's better. It just moves the caliper out and has a solid 13" disc. Will I ever be thankful I have a 13" rear rotor on the rear, again, I don't think so. My end goal set up it the FTR kit with 07 Calipers and two piece rotors for main races and one piece rotors for practice/qualifying in the front and then just a two piece rear rotor and ST41 pads out back.

And then the thing with 18 inch rims, if you have a round peg, prepare to get a round hole.

Hey-oh. Thanks for linking, 96blak54. I haven't been around the forums much lately, been slammed with moving into the new shop and all, but I'll pipe in.

As far as the pricing goes, the whole goal of the kit was to provide superior stopping power to a 13" cobra setup at a lower price point. After the brake kit, lines, pads, rotors, and sourcing calipers, this configuration will cost less than a 13" cobra kit. Being a car guy myself, I've never been one to try to price-gouge, so imho the price is pretty fair based on both the cost of manufacturing/company operating costs/distribution, as well as the price of alternative kits on the market.

I've been meaning to update the product image, functionally they are still the same, but they're a little shinier now and have laser marked serial number and build date to allow us to better keep track of what kits are out there.
