I had a red 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS as my DD in a big work territory, and my wife had a white Ford Focus Electric for her short work commute. We are both retired now, so decided to sell both and get one car to share. We looked at Fusion and C-Max hybrids but didn't like them. We found the love child of our two cars - a white 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited Hybrid with under 30k miles. All the bells and whistles - leather, nav, heated seats, panoramic sunroof, Infinity stereo. Best parts of both our cars in one vehicle. No, don't worry, we kept both Mustangs and my Ram hemi quad cab 4x4!

Good stuff man.

Im not a fan of Hyundai after my mom and ex having them and both having nothing but issues but it seems their build quality has gotten better in the past couple of years.

Dont be afraid to post up some pics, we wont make fun of you lol.

I was never a fan of hyundai till I had a genesis for a rental for 6 weeks back in 12. I’ve owned a 13 Genesis for several years now and never had any issues and I’m hard on it. 330hp with the v6 and 32mpg on the highway.

It’s made a believer out of me. I’ve considered trading it in on a newer Genesis G80. Mine only has about 75k miles on it though and i know a couple people with them that have 200k on them now with no issues. They’ve gotten right up there close to the top of quality standards now.

I had a sonata 10 yrs ago for a month when I was away for training and thought it was a very comfortable and well done car. I treated it like a rental but only jumped it once and not that far but it held up pretty well. there were two other guys there with me one had a chevy and the other a dodge and we all hated their cars and always took mine when we went somewhere together.

I have 157,000 miles on my 2013 Sonata. Outside of normal wear items (brakes, tires, filters and oil, etc.) only had to replace a starter. Cleveland, Ohio car and no rust! Original struts and shocks are still on it. If I was still working I was planning on keeping it for 200k miles at least. Yeah, the Hyundais sucked when they first hit these shores but now they have some good stuff. And it was assembled in the US.

are they made here now? Not sure why I am surprised but I am as I guess I missed that memo. We have a large toyota plant in town and I probably missed the hyundai news as everything around here is toyota news.

Yea, you certainly can't judge present day Hyundai's from the legacy the 2002 Kia Sephia left behind lol!

Their present day stuff is substantially better, and you can't beat their prices and warranties. Good stuff Pinkie!

It’s funny you mention Kia. Has anyone ever done any research on Kia?? Did you know that ford had part ownership in them for a few years?? Did you know that the fiesta’s and aspire’s from the late 80’s and early 90’s were actually built by Kia?? They also use to build motorcycles for Honda way way back. They built Mazda delivery trucks as well.

The Hyundai Excel was a POS, not quite as bad as the Yugo though. They came a long way. Hyundai bought Kia in 1998 and slowly brought them along too - their cars are now basically the same under the skin. That said, I always try and buy a vehicle built in the US.

They bought 50% of Kia in 98. Now they only hold 32%. But yes, several of the cars share the same platforms.
