timing

So i have a little issue my pos doesn't like to run right unless my timing is super advanced it is currently set at 21 deg adv harmonic balancer is dead on since i just put new heads on and verified it against tdc with the heads off...i am running the comp cams xe276 hr i took it to have it tuned and the tuner set it at 10 like a normal 5.0 it ran like crap so over the past few days i have bumped it till it started acting right which is around 21 adv has anyone ever experienced this and if so what the hell was the fix

How are you checking timing, did you pull the spout to set initial timing? Also, do you know what the idle timing is in the tune? I’d say if it’s running well, and you’re not having any issues at wot, then let it ride.
