I had a set of 265-35-17 rear tires and ran a best of 14.2 in the quarter as my best on these street tires. I changed my tires to a set of 315-35-17 rear tires with a set of sr lca and ran a best the other night of 14.7 with a 2.5 60ft slipping the cluth on the 315 street tires. Do you guys think the tires affected my times that much?

Thats a bigger tire, heavier and probably over an inch+ taller. You go with a wider wheel also?

What kind of tires?

Rubber and pattern can make a big difference in the performance of a tire. Its not just the size.

I am thinking that much of a tire diameter increase would be equivalent to a 3.73 down to a 3.55 gear change, or more. Definitely going to slow you down.

I have bf goodrich. And the wheels are 10.5 wide bullets that I already had on with the old tires. With my mods of just tune, exhaust and intake with lca. Do you guys think I would be better off with stock wheels and maybe just a 255 35 17 out back so I dont kill my times?

You can keep the tires, just now need more HP to turn them faster :). Ditch the stock rear gears and pop in some 4.10's since you like the track.

Whats your plans for the car?

It's cus you have steam rollers on a basically stock car ... All the guys running 10" slicks on there stockish cars should be running 8" slicks I had 11.5" slicks on my car still it went ally faster but on a 8" it prolly would have picked up another 3 tenths on the big end

I want to go to 3.90 or a 4.10 gear later and long tubes with a little spray. But I dont want to be running 14.7 when it should be in the high 13s. Think I might find a set of stock wheels for the track.

Maybe pick up a pair of cheap 9" wide wheels and throw on some 275 Drag Radials when playing around at the track. You can use the 315's for looks on the street.

It may not be fast yet but its still fun to go to the track and make a few passes.

265/35/17s are like 25" tires... Stock is 25.7 or 26.1 so dunno, your 315/35/17s are right on. And completely too wide and unnecessary. 275 or 285 is a perfect rear width and more than enough.

Leave the tires.. Get some gears.. Faster times don't come overnight, but 315's will help you later on..

.5 second is huge for just tires, they may have added like 10-15lbs. Look at your trap speed, should indicate if there was another variable. Maybe you're making less power for whatever reason. 2.5sec 60's is horrible.

I'm in the same kind of situation and same 2.4 60fts. But my 315 Nitto's came shipped to me at 40 psi which I need to try again at the stock door pressure of 30. You might want to experiment with your pressures as well if you haven't already, you may get some more out of the 315's

A 94-04 Mustang should have nothing shorter then a 25.4" tire on it.Like a 315-35-17 should be the limit.

Should be around 26" tall front and rear IMO

I run 26.3 up front and 26.6 out back. Fills the wheel wells better, more comfortable ride and doesn't look like a set of roller skate wheels.

My trap speeds are the same as it was before. I run about 98 mph in the quarter and the mph has not changed. On my old tires before I put the lca on I was cutting a 2.2 60ft slipping the clutch out of the hole.
