I bought an 02, 5-speed, new edge around a month ago for a good deal as the guy didn't have time to work on it. He had the car supercharged with all the supporting mods but it dropped a spark plug on him so he bought a new motor just to be safe. I picked up the motor and car, got the old motor pulled and fully dressed but I've been unable to pull out the alignment dowel pins as they are on the same side with the trans and new motor. I've gone through just about every method to pull them out but they refuse to come out. I'm wondering if its possible to just unbolt the bellhousing from the trans so I can press the dowel out. I'm in a bit of a time crunch as I leave for college in 2 days and it'll piss me off if I couldn't get this car back together because of dowel pins.

Post a picture. If it’s stuck in the transmission bellhousing, use a hammer and punch from the back side to drive it out.

I have also tapped threads into the dowel, I think 1/2” threads. And used a slide hammer to pull them out.

Get a small torch and heat the bellhousing around that dowel to help break up the corrosion.

Do not put the car together without those dowels though.
