I am intending to run a track heat intake on the 347 I am rebuilding for my 95gts. I was really hoping you guys could provide some insight into the finer details of making this intake fit and work.

specifically: clearance under stock hood, is there room for a spacer?
will tfs valve covers fit without a spacer?
egr, yes/no?

Anything else pertinent.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I'm running the Trick FLow Street intake. and basically you'll lose the strut tower brace and if you run a spacer you won't be able to keep the stock hood. I think it might be alright with no spacer and stock hood but it would be tight. I have not found any valve covers from Trick Flow that fit without some mods even with spacers. that damn alternator kills us. the egr stays the same as stock.

Not to be mean, but you are wasting your money putting the track heat kit on a 347. That kit is designed for a 302.

I have to agree, with those extra cubes you need a intake that flows a lot of air. Something with huge ports like the Holly ( it was mentioned here ) or how about one of the Edelbrock intakes like the Victor Jr? I have seen ported truck lowers with box uppers on 347's before and they work fine. The extra cubes makes up for the low rpm power loss from the box upper, and then at the upper rpm band the box intake gives you an advantage.

Guys I realize I won't get max power out of this combo but I am looking for good driveability on the street. Besides will a victor jr. fit under the stock hood anyway.
What about a ported RPMII? I might be able to get one of those. The guy wants a premium price though.
I don't think I want to spin this thing higher than 6500rpm max in the interest of longevity/reliability.

Thanks for the feedback, you've definitely given me something to think about. I'll do some research on the victor jr.

My Track Heat was fine on my blown 331. Peak hp was at 5600 rpm and it stayed there through 6800.

In my old pushrod I had a Stroked A4 347. I had the track heat intake and wasn't impressed. Trick flow is a damn fine company but I would bank on the Vitor Jr. Series intake for the 347. When I had a Victor Jr ported my power curve was 100% better. There right when they say you want an intake that flows better. It's not the track heat intake isn't good its just that those intakes do much better on a 302. The Holley system max is a great set up as well. Both of those would be the best setup for you motor. I went with the Victor Jr. and everything was really smooth. But no You can keep the stock hood you must buy a new hood.

Done some reading. I guess it's the victor 5.0, not jr. Either way a new hood is a big stretch right now. Already blowing the budget big time.
What about a ported Systemax or Trackheat. A buddy works at an engine shop(imports) and can port it for me.
How streetable is a victor......really? I am running a full weight car with 3.73, 5spd. I would like to shift between 6000 to 6200 rpm.

I can also buy an RPMII that has already been ported by Paul DaSilva a local mustang specialist. (his brother Joe writes for Modified Mustangs). Worried about hood clearance and the guy wants a G note canadian, ouch.

42 cubic inches is NOT that much to overwork a track heat intake unless you're revving that bitch to 7,500. You may want a mild street port or something but either way I think it'd be more than adequete for a STREET CAR.
