not even a dash?

what is your weight goal?

he'll put in a dash... just a light racing one... like the stainless (or are they aluminum) in NASCAR...

he's gonna want gauges so no dash would be a bit crazy
lol

Yeah . . . I actully haven't weighed it since Fun Ford 1995. It's lost some weight since then, anyway. Tubular K, A-Arms, Coilovers . . yada yada. I know I pulled about 100 pounds out of it today. And, since the only accessory I'm going to run is an alternator, Im losing the weight of the AC compressor, Power Steering pump, and all the lines, tanks, and gizmos.

I should have my Flaming River Manual Rack and Skinnie Kid Manual brake conversion kit tomorrow.

Still need to take the dog bone off the rear, take out the door reinforcements, and the rest of the interior panels. I'll fab up some aluminum switch panels for the windows and so on.

Those are Pro Stars...they're Telstars. They are WAY sexier than pro stars any day.

Nice build man. How are you mounting your seats in? Holcomb Motorsports makes a GREAT bracket that made it a snap to put my kirkey's in. They're listed for fox bodies but they still bolt right in to our cars. Also, what kind of set up are you running in the rear for suspension? What kind of 60ft's did you get with it before?

Thanks, bro. I'm prolly just going to use the stock seat bracket. I got the brackets from RCI, but they won't work. I'm only doing one seat, since I can't take a passenger on the track.

For now, the rear is a an 8.8 with a Detroit Locker, 3.73s, and Moser 31 splines. I got 1.59 60s on the old S-Trimmed 331 when the car was at full wieght. That was launching off the transbrake with the 2 step at 3800 with 4500 stall converter. Converter is going to stay the same for the 427. I expect the 60s to improve

Re: PARTIALLY GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got yourself into a big project. I was planning on doing something like that with my 86 LX. I had the 2.3 but it wasnt turbo and I was only 14 when I got it, so money wasnt there. Looks good though Huge props for taking on such a build :thumb:

Thanks . . I tell everyone that I won't be happy until the car actually bends time and crosses the finish line before I actually launch . . lol. I can't wait for the season to start so I can start running it.

I'm mounting the flux capacitor right next to the fuel cell . . . where else would you mount it????

Today's update is as follows:

The car goes into the chassis shop either tomorrow or Monday. I'm still on the fence about how extensive the chassis work will be. But, I will be tubbing it, doing the 10 point cage that is tied to the front frame/K-member.

What I'm not sure of is how much I'm going to take out of the front end. I may be doing a tube frame in the fron so that my front end will be held on with Dzus fittings. In other words, getting rid of all the sheet metal in the front and having a removable front end.

I'll know more when I talk to the chassis guy.

Oh . . and I got a rivet gun today . . so I'm dangerous. (we need a Santa Pimp)

Re: PARTIALLY GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well . . . the car went into the chassis shop today with a 500 pound weight loss goal. They guy doing the work knows his shit and does quality work. Here's his site. www.thehotrodunderground.com

Anyway, we are doing bars up into the front frame rails and removing as much sheet metal as possible in the front end. We will also have bars going into the trunk, cutting out the trunk floor to be replaced with aluminum, and basically taking out sheet metal wherever we can. The dash is coming out and we are fabbing an aluminum dash.

I'll post pics when I have them.

Also, my block and heads came in today . . . bad ass stuff . . . I'll post pics when they get it up on the stand and start prepping it.
