U Joint Retainer Clips

Do you have to use the same thickness clips for all 4 sides of the u joint. Ya get 4 copper, 4 green, and 4 silver each one a different thickness. Or do use a certain one because ya cant get the u joint perfectly centered give or take a mm.

I would think use all of em the same, if you don't you'll get some bad wobble in yer shaft... And ya don't want yet shaft all wobbly...

I noticed one u joint the factory original one, it had one different than the other 3.

As long as the clips are the same on the bearing caps from the one across it it is fine. Ya can't have 3 of one size and one with a different size from what I read from Spicer.

I have had a set of u joints from ford
The clips were thick and thin
Just the way the caps line up in the joints one
Required thin one requires thicker

That's what I noticed on my factory joints when I was removing the clips. I just don't want to be off center and my whole shaft starts vibrating.

I've watched Youtube on how to install them and Chris Fix showed a pretty easy method on reinstalling them. He installed one side installed the then pressed in the other side and installed the clip. Pressed in in both sides one at a time and then installed both clips. I s there a correct or wrong way to do this pertaining when to install the clips?
