it was like a whole neighborhood event, everyone was surprised to see it actually move!

Lol, that's like my street. When I used to start up my ride twice a month the neighbor(s) would always say "Waking up the beast huh" or give me the thumbs up when I would drive it around the block. The Magna Packs get pretty loud once they are broken in.

A few updates. Got my new fuel pump, I had originally ordered a 340 lph pump and after doing some learning realized that the 340 is overkill for this combination, and downsized a bit. I'm going to keep the 340 to build a stand alone fuel system for a wet nitrous kit probably this coming winter. The fuel tank, after cleaning all of the dirt off had not a spot of rust on it.

Everything came apart nice, and even the damn o ring under the pump bracket top was still pliable and like new. Pump took about an hour, and the DW pump was surprisingly quiet compared to the old one that was in there. Had to laugh because the hose clamps were still the OE ones with "Ford" stamped right in the side.

Took her out and put some miles on, now able to beat on it a bit got a few 3/4 throttle pulls in second and it comes on pretty hard after 4500 rpm. Need to figure out a way to get some in car video here soon. Got the 2 step and launch control figured out and working, but have yet to test it other than just in neutral in the driveway.

Finished the "for now" intake, not sure if I'm going to keep it though. It is a good cold air source (filter in the inner fender) but I don't want to cut this big a hole in the hood. I don't have pictures yet but started installing the hood scoop, I'm doing it myself. I took the hood around to a few places last fall and it was upward of $1K that people quoted me for work. Hell with that, I'll learn to fiberglass myself. Might use the other round filter I have and make a box to mate it up to the Thunderbolt hood.

I replaced all of the lights in the car with LED's also, totally worthwhile mod! I used the Sylvania ZEVO LED 3157 lights for parking and tail lights, and though not the brightest out there, they have a lifetime warranty, tests show they hold onto their lumen's longer than most due to the exceptionally large heat sinks. I also put in Hikari 9007 high/low LED headlight bulbs (Amazon). Jury is still out on these and we will see how they hold up, but nice headlight so far. No pics but I'll get some here in the future.

This thread just keeps on getting better! Very nice work!

That start up tho!!!!
Thanks!!

Yeah I was pretty excited about the sound! The motor's static compression ratio ended up being about 11.2:1, and that explains the snorty sound when she first starts up. It settles down a bit once it goes into closed loop but still has some pop to her. Dynamic compression was calculated to be about 9.3:1 so I should be fine with running 93 pump gas. Looking down the road, pending no problems, running a 100ish horse wet shot on this motor sound be entertaining! Cool part is the Holley will do a progressive ramp and control timing also. So many cool options!

when it comes time that you need help with the fiberglassing let me know. I am not sure a scoop is the project you want to learn about it on though.

A few updates, between the pandemic crap, my wife having major surgery, and some moderate civil unrest here in the Twin Cities it has been a bit busy (to put it mildly).

Was able to sneak in some work on my days off though. First up I wanted to fit the Maximum Motorsports shock tower brace. With the QA1 K-member, and slightly taller Holley DS Distributor the brace did not fit. I ended up cutting off the ends that bolt to the shock towers, raised, and re welded them back on. Not super complicated, and it turned out nice!

After that I was able to finish/secure the coil wire from the side panel to the distributor. P clamps are my favorite way to secure stuff also :).

And the finished (I think, ok no, when is this stuff ever finished?) engine compartment.

Went over to my neighbors to have him TIG in (I'm just not quite proficient in it yet) the bars, and we cut and fitted support bars and the rear down bars. Going to get it finished this week and painted.

So far here is my major issue with the motor. I put a gauge on the Holley Sniper as I was having issues with a really rich tip in and move to WOT, fuel pressure was reading 80 PSI, way to damn high. I called Holley and they sent me a new regulator, cover, and misc parts. Dropped it down to 76 but still to high. I am running a 255 LPH pump and am wondering if I have a kink in the return line or something causing fuel pressure to be to high. Free flowing the pump into a fuel can I get about 60 so thinking my return line is possibly the issue. Sucks as I'm really not thrilled about replacing the fuel lines :(

**edit, the Sniper fuel pressure is supposed to be 59.5 PSI**

Ha, well, kinda :)

He is a good ole fashion car guy, look close on what motor is on that Chevy C10 frame. That Coyote motor is for mock up, on the engine stand is a VooDoo with a Cobra Jet intake on it. He does for sure know what he is doing.

I have been dreaming about modifying a strut tower brace in the same way for some time now. Not sure I can get it around the cobra intake with the space I have between the upper/lower and still get the hood to shut though.

I was not sure if I was even going to keep it initially, because of that reason. Eventually when I modify the stock hood, I'm planning on taking most of the center structure out of it so should offer some good clearance. For now with no hood it really is not an issue. I am going to do some work on the stock hood here soon and I have to bolt it on with no intake. I'll let you know what kind off issues arise when I get it bolted on.

I think MM makes a bar that clears the Cobra intake. I had a hard time with cutting up a brand new STB, but then thought what the hell, I have it, cannot return it, might as well make it fit.

Figured out my fuel system issues, I think.

With the Holley Sniper EFI, and the 255lph pump I'm using, the factory 1/4" return line is causing high fuel pressures at lower/mid range RPM/lower fuel need. This in turn is causing issues outside of closed loop operation.

To resolve this I decided to dump the factory fuel lines and hanger all together. To start I ordered a PRO-M Racing high flow fuel pump hanger:

https://www.promracing.com/high-flow-fuel-pump-hanger-for-1986-1997-mustangs.html

This should help eliminate the issues of the 1/4" return line. I also have all of the -6AN (3/8") braided stainless lines and fittings to go from the pump to the front as well as a new -6AN female/female fuel filter.

This should in theory totally eliminate the fuel pressure issues I'm having.....I hope :). Sucks because I hate doing things twice, and I feel kind of dumb as even in the fuel system info in the Sniper manual it says minimum of a 3/8" return line is needed for a 255lph pump. I honestly just grazed over it as it is for those going from carb to EFI and building a fuel system. Never gave two thoughts to the return line being an issue as I had EFI already and did not bother to really look into the factory system. Live and learn I guess.

Nice part I guess is this will offer plenty of fuel for down the road mods (No2) when it comes time.

Unrelated roll bar is done, and got new carpet from American Muscle yesterday also. Looking forward to getting the roll bar painted and getting the interior finished!
