how often does this "IRS Explosion Fiasco" occur, i guess was my question. Obviously on a drag car there's cause to be worried, but what about a street-driven car that never sees the track
On a street driven car that never sees the track, I personally would leave the stock IRS rubber bushings alone. However, The stock IRS toe links can and do wear out resulting in a considerable amount of toe slop and a floaty rear end feel. The parts guy at my Ford dealer shows the rear toe links as "lateral links" and they list for $240 each.
