Whichever it is, I'm dealing with a loud knocking noise, and it's getting louder. Symptoms- loud knocking from bell housing area can hear noise constantly at low RPM (drowned out at speed) noise goes away when clutch is pressed to within 1/2 inch of floor noise present in all gears and neutral trans shifts smoothly, typical TR3650 clutch still good, not slipping, just grabs a little high I don't believe it to be the throwout bearing, that's a whining noise, and I'm not sure what else it could be. Having my dad listen to it this weekend. Because the noise is getting louder quickly (quiet this morning, sounds like a diesel this afternoon), I'm parking it until I drive it to his house.
I vote TOB When the actual bearing part goes out it screeches but the part that rests against the fork can start to break and sounds like a bent rod
Knock knock: http://youtu.be/sEM0-ka-s8Q .... the TOB came off when he touched it the knocking helped wipe a bearing....
Listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arobKeum23I Not a Mustang but this is exactly what mine does- noise and racket, clutch in, no more noise and racket
It can really only be a couple things pilot bearing tob clutch spring or fly wheel related..... Does pulling up on the clutch do anything?
It doesn't. No matter what gear it's in, same thing happens, all kinds of racket until clutch is 1/2" off the floor.
My money is throw out bearing. Mine made same noise i think and i pulled my bearing out in 3 pieces. Mine stopped making noise as soon as I had pressure on the clutch pedal. This is what it came out like... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
Sounds like throw out bearing. Could be excessive crank end play but not likely. Time to R/R trans and inspect. Sorry dude.
