I found this used. Says the cats are gutted and came off an 03 Cobra. Asking $450.

I wanted a simple way to increase sound over the stock exhaust.

Should fit on my 96 Cobra, right?

What do you think?

Hmmm. Some posts say it'll fit. Some say you have to oblong the hole on driver's side flange.

Basically the same fit and function from 96-2004. Its the location of the hangers that changed. In other words, you might have to modify or add additional hangers. It aint no hill for a climber tho, easy peasy, lemon squeezy. You got this mang!

Also sounds like some don't use hangers on midpipes. I'm leaning that way.

Installed. Had to elongate the holes on the drivers side mid pipe flange to fit the header studs. Cats are not gutted.

Sounds better. Just a bit louder.

Pulls a bit better on acceleration.

The cats are clamped on so they can be replaced with straight pieces.

It cane with 02 sensors from the 2003 Cobra. The wires were longer and I used those on the front 2 sensors. The bung locations on the Bassani are mounted differently on the front. Longer wires are needed.

I like the improved tone. Wish it was a bit louder. It definitely accelerates better. I ended up paying $300 for it, so I think it was worth it.

I'll probably do a cat back in the spring.

I don't think it will make much of a difference. I have the same pipe and really not that much quieter (if at all) than the off-road pipe I also ran. I don't even think you'd notice a power difference. It does help with fumes though.

I've ran the bassani x pipe with and without cats. Without cats IS louder. If you are running a stock catback it will limit that volume increase though.

Right. I was wanting to leave the stock cat backs in place, but I'm pretty sure I'll change that in the spring. Then I'll be able to get the sound I want.

I was going to say the exact same thing. I originally had high flow magnaflow catted X and the cats went bad. I was curious how much louder it would be with out them and at the time off road pipes were still cheap/easy so I got one and put it on. With out the cats it was JUST a little louder than I liked and that was with the cut outs closed. With them open everyone knew when you left or arrived as it was LOUD.... One day when I was looking through marketplace I found someone selling a set of high flow cats that fit my pipe size for only $100 so I got it, put them on and I am again happy with how it sounds.
