The V6 was damn pathetic until 2011 when it came out with 305hp and 280tq. I mean the 2011 V6 is damn near fast as the 2010 GT. Now if we are talking pre 2011 then they sucked pretty bad in the performance department. I am a V8 guy only because the sound.. :headbang: but the new V6 is no slouch.

For sure, the new 2011 v6 is quick and will run with the past 4.6 3V all day.

Its all relative though.

10 years ago we would have considered this new v6 to be pretty quick, now, not so much when bolt on coyotes run 11s.

At the end of the day, it all depends on what you want from the car.

I have no issue with people favoring the V6, I just feel like I see some of the V6 guys trying to rationalize their V6 with some nonsense claims like this whole building a monster v6 for 1500 dollars or w/e.

Realistically it takes a good bit of money to get a V6 to consistently beat a V8 from the same year....and IMO, to make the v6 beat the V8, you would cover the cost of just buying that V8 and then some easily.

Meh, I still like the better weight distribution thing, I'll stick to that, because I don't give a damn about times at the strip ;p

haha well thats actually a logical and true statement there

Yea, I could tweak this things suspension out as much as I wanted, and there you'd be in that big freakin boat, smoking me around a road course. damn technology and advancement in suspensions haha

You just can't beat the sound of a V8 Mustang. There I said it. Yes my 95 is slow, but it sounds insane. So I'd rather have a slow car that has tone, and sounds good, rather than something fast and sounds really bad.

A lot of these newer heavier cars get it done on a track

I agree with this

Are you insinuating that making a V8 mustang fast isnt a challenge ? lol

Its still a challenge making a v8 fast...you start with a 15 second car and run 14s,13s,12s,11s,10s...plenty of challenge there, especially if we're talking about the old 5.0 and 4.6 NPI turd boxes.

Only difference with a V6 is you start with a 16 second car lol

I agree, there is plenty of v8 retards with slow ass 14/15 second cars that think theyre the fastest shit on the road.

Dont forget the old saying there is no replacement for displacement. Yes turbos, superchargers, and technology helps but they saying is still true. There is a reason for stroker motors. Every fast v6 96 98 car I've seen over the years all had the truck 4.2 v6.

The one place the V6 will always beat the V8: Sales. The entry level Mustangs are the reason it's been going 50 years. The entry level is the money maker for Ford. The entry level is the one more people prefer/buy.

On paper however, a v8 stang will always outperform a v6 stang with the same mods thus making it a more powerful platform. Whether or not it is a better platform.....that can't be said because they are two completely separate engines and it depends on what you want and plan for the car.

Sure, mod for mod... but you also have more money into the V8 at the end of the day. I'd hope it was faster if you spent more on it!

Justin's all stock 3.8L motor with boost/fuel was in the 10s. Just sayin'. There have been several quick 3.8L displacement cars out there. Some have cracked 600 rwhp. I'm sure lots of stock block/displacement 4.6L 2Vs are doing that as well.

There is definitely replacement for displacement.
You guys need to open your mind up past American muscle...
Boost and technology differently prove that saying wrong. The v8s we know are terrible inefficient. Before you point out the v6s in mustang aren't very good either, well obviously. The v6s were never full out designed for performance. Go look at porche and some of the asian monsters for example.

As for only being able to make v6 power from 4.2, there are plenty of super coupe and other 3.8 setups that are pretty nasty.

I like a v8 just as much as everyone else, but there is a lot of ignorance towards v6s. Seems to be lots of "experts" on v6s, but not so much experience...

Why does everybody need the same cookie cutter mustang? I quiet enjoy having something no else has. I especially love the butt hurt it causes too :)

Justin: Before you press the quote button... save it. I already know you're the forum "know it all", don't waste your time. You're just on this forum to stir up trouble. <3

Any true car guy knows power can come from anything internal combustion. Whether it has 1 cylinder or 12+, someone has re-engineered it to make it scream.

Anything can make power if you dump money into it.

3.8s are about the only platform on the earth worse than a NPI 2v :p
