Want to add puddle lights....is the door switch a hot wire or the ground wire?

Don't laugh I like them...I want to add the pony logo puddle lamps to my doors & need to know if the door interior light switch is a hot wire or just the ground wire? Trying to secure my hot source & I really don't know this answer. Thanks guys!

it should be a positive trigger meaning when the door is opened you will see +12v on it but its been a while so be sure to test the wire before connecting to it. My manual shows that it should be a black wire with a light blue stripe on it that you can probably just follow from the pin switch in the door though if its not.
