so im wanting to build a 5.4. where would be a good place to get one?
a built one? or one to tear down?
Yeah your post is very vague... If you're looking for one to tear down shoot for an expedition or navigator motor. They can be had on the cheap
one to build. i want to boost it. i like the look of ttsaleen 98 mustangs motor. would a navigator block be strong enough for boost or should i buy a teskid?
The 4.6 is lighter and can rev harder. I'd say that a cobra crank for 4.6 and a set of C heads would be cheaper in the long run than trying to build a 5.4 and it would also allow for more intake options. Why are you set on the 5.4? I'm just wondering.
Iron blocks are good up to 800-1000 teksid is like 1000+ area as far as what it will handle as a race prepped block.
A 5.4 iron block has close to 1 inch taller deck and that ectra inch of iron at the top of the blocknon each side is where most pf the added weight comes from. And the additional weight of the rods by a few ounces each.
Most pre 2002 5 4 motors came from the factory with forged cranks. We put a stock block stock forged crank in my buddys GT with forged pistons and rods for another $750.(Motor was free) the car easilly made 522/650 on 15 psi
yea that sounds like what i want to do
This thread is all over the place
