I did a thing today...

_nc_ohc=UUzP4OULLzAAX98G5U3&_nc_ht=scontent-atl3-2.jpg

Last week I picked up an extractor socket set and a new breaker bar. Found my torx bits as well and pulled the tensioner off. Spent a LOT of time cleaning up the bolts. Used a drill bit (by hand, don't panic) to clean out the bolt cavities... and oh.. my... god... the amount of crap that was up in there. Looked like dirt. How it got there, who knows.

Got it all put back together and purged the air out I think.

One thing I'm NOT pleased with is the bearings on the air pump delete pulley. The bolt is seated, but the pulley is floppy. Seems like the bearing is no good. Annoying....

Also, since I was already out working on fOrDs today, I figured I'd go ahead and put another brake line on the old Ranger. Took it around the pattern for some dirt road touch and gos. Thinking we might put this one on on the curb to see if someone will buy it. Its a decent little truck despite looking rough as a cracked-up hooker.... it just needs to be driven more than we are.
If the weather and other tasks allow it, I might take another shot and pulling the front I-beams down to replace the destroyed radius arm bushings. Who knows.....

Drove it work today. No vibration at highway/interstate speeds with the new driveshaft, so that's a plus.

Yesterday afternoon I started on the Cobra calipers. Just cleaning them up and going over everything getting ready to put a new coat of paint on them. I used Dawn dish soap and a a brass wire brush, along with a couple cans of brake cleaner. While cleaning I noticed the boots on one of them were pretty worn, so I ordered new boots/seals to replace those. The pads are in pretty good shape, probably pretty close to new thickness. I'll have to get new rotors, so I might as well put new pads on at the same time. I'll replace the hoses with SS while I'm at it.

Stopped by my painter's place this afternoon at lunch to grab some touch up paint. I forgot to get any when I picked the car up last year from being painted, and I wanted to have some on-hand when installing the hood latches.

Finished up the personal touches on the Yote's intake cover. Matte black side grates as well as some stainless mesh intake runner grates to fill in the air gaps which I wasn't liking before. Aside from the stainless/chrome laiminates on top which were there for a few months now, as well as the painted lettering in the front.

That'll do it.
