I have to ask, what distributor are you using? If it's the Dual Sync, I'll pray for you. You can read about my issues here Dual "stink" Sync if you'd like to see what can happen, or not. Your hurdle will be sequential or batch if you do something other than CNP.

I have to say that I am now spoiled by the keyless system in the DD. I realized it tonight as I was walking out and started to try and figure out what pocket the keys were in and then remembered it didn't matter I just have to walk up and it unlocks, push start and I am off. It has a simple but durable remote to go with it all that I am happy with.

Keyless is convenient but has it´s risks. Thieves can with simple tools record the signal and later use it to take the car. Probably not a major risk on a normal DD but for more expensive cars.
Things like Range Rovers have been stolen here like this for many years and shipped to Russia where with money and right contacts they have been registered.
Just read an article that a large chunk of Swedish RAM pickups (we do have not many here but some) are stolen this way and used now by Putin in his war in Ukraine rebuilt to weapon carriers!

they still require a couple of steps more than just a regular key system uses. I learned while installing alarms that there is a way around almost anything. Back in the day alarms were easily bypassed by just breaking a tail light and shorting it out so that when the alarm was then set off it would draw too much current and blow either the fuse for the alarm, or the power source it was connected to. Alarms today have a fuse on the light output because of this now.

You are correct, what i meant was that there are drawbacks in everything.

agreed. With the keyless systems it would require specialized equipment/training but once someone had that it would be as simple as stealing any of the kia's that you could steal with a strong tug and a charger/usb drive

Drained my first round of break in oil. Basically 20 min of idle to 2k rpms sporadic rpms. Trying to get on the dyno in a couple weeks for full tune. Hard to see but typical break in glitter but not excessive or worrying

Had snakes and a horse in the garage yesterday. One was overheating and also wouldn't heat the occupant! All fixed and ready to go. No animal was harmed during this repair.

Fan was easy...bad relay. Heater motor harder...2hrs, dash pulled. Said he didn't know it was falling off. OMG! Not observant at all!
Also changed his ignition switch, key kept falling out. Don't know how he kept it going.

Sold the gray 03 earlier. Kinda sad but I have too many projects and not enough time and that car needed a lot of time and money.

Also added my dipstick to my moroso pan. Definitely a PITA. When I washed the car last week for the first time in 8 years (never had a good top on it) I noticed a slow weep of water. Another dang nest I dug out today

Nest? Hell, thats a townhouse! Rivals the two I uncovered when I removed the counter/shelving unit from my workshop last week: 2 rats nests and 1 raccoon birthing nest!

I’ve found so many nests in this car. In the frame rails, under the console, under the cowl.

Just one. :D I did an engine job and a bunch of other stuff on the one in the foreground. Pretty basic setup, but the owner is just happy to own it. I have enough toys, no need for more at my age.
