May gonin and mess with dead times next time i get a chance but for now she looks pretty good. Concrete season is coming to and end so ill have some free time to mess with it in the next couple of weeks.

Installed a replacement Water Temp gauge, this time with a much longer lead; buttoned the dash bezel back up and refastened the steering column covers (luckily found that third screw!)

I know it doesn’t sound like much, but it closed the chapter on the whole steering column/headlight switch/dash gauges fiasco :)…. which is nice to have behind me.

Next up: troubleshooting the headlights and fog lights

Bought a 4X4! Trying to get into the world of 4X4, and went with something quite unorthodox (at least in North America, quite common in Europe).

I bought a 2001 Mercedes ML320, just like the truck I grew up in. Low range, ladder frame, a choice of V6 or V8 (diesels in other continents too), and a solid reputation of toughness and reliability. Independent suspension all around, like a military Humvee. Torsion bars in front too, so you can crank them up for more ride height.

Thankfully, it is completely rust free as well. It’s shocking how well this thing has held up for the past 25 years. I don’t think it has ever seen snow, salt, or dirt. Kinda sucks because now I will feel bad if anything does happen to it. The joys of owning a junker…

For how cheap it was, it needed a little work. New plugs and wires, two new coils, engine mounts, water pump, accessory drive pullies (underdrives anyone??? XD), and a couple tiny fixes on the interior.

Today I pulled the fender liners for closer inspection, removed the side skirts, and flushed out the rocker panels. Water came out clear, which is good. I waited for them to dry out, and went nuts with the Fluid Film, as I do every car. God I hate fender liners though :)

I took mine out for a drive. Working out my limp mode issue on the Coyote. Sunny day in the 60's.

Swapped out replacement oil pressure and oil temp sensors. Changed the oil/filter (needed it) since I had to remove the oil filter to get any kind of decent grip/angle on the 1 1/16 socket (27mm) to R&R the oil pressure sensor.
