I got all the wiring under the car tied up and made sure the batteries were charged up in hopes of firing it up today. I was hoping I could find a plug to put in the o2 bung I need go move but its a strange M18 x 1.5 thread so I had to have it shipped in. I will have to wait to start it tomorrow, maybe the driveshaft will be done as well. I got the shifter installed and was able to finally able to bang through 6 gears(complete with sound effects of course)

Tore into the dash today. There was so much wiring under the dash and hood, it looked like colored spaghetti everywhere! There were switches that went to nothing, wiring for an amp, microphone and an old alarm system. I think the box was removed a while ago but there was still a lot of wiring and a couple sensors. There was also an antenna behind the headliner. Also pulled the radio. It was pretty weak for an aftermarket system and it stood out too much I didn’t like it. Still trying to work on the clutch but that’s a fail so far. Also replaced the pedal covers because the rubber was coming off. Much to my surprise they are Ford bullitt covers. I’ll get another set one day. In the meantime I got dorman stock replacements.View attachment 11064View attachment 11065View attachment 11066View attachment 11067View attachment 11068View attachment 11069
I have an entire set of those from cjs pony parts because it took them forever to get the automatic brake pedal, so i ordered 2 sets of silver including the manual pedals and a red set

Are you willing to part with them?
Possibly, let me verify that I do have a clutch and brake pedal for a manual. and I'll check the availability on cj's, there was never a shortage on anything but the automatic brake pedal, the red ones however look way cooler in the pictures so I'm assuming it is the same for the blue

Meant to post this yesterday but got sidetracked. I bought one of those cheap white face overlays for my ac panel because the one that was on the car was ugly and I wasn’t going to spend money on the whole control head when I just needed the face. So I took a risk and bought a cheap one on eBay. I’m actually impressed with the quality. Also I got one for an 01+ with pics instead of words for the positions because IMO it looks better. It’s not centered and nothing else is white so it sticks out but I like it.

Apparently spent all weekend making it go from running like shit to not running at all, wtf!. Is there something i could have done inadvertently while trying to set the timing, is there something that maybe someone wouldn't think to mention (because I was working on the car maybe everyone would just assume i knew) that i might have done or not done before cranking the engine, and stuff that may have made it where it won't start at all now, or am i going to have to go back through everything I've already replaced to see if something has fried again. Ahhh i hate i put all the gas in the jug in the tank now....., now i don't have anything to set the car on fire with

Yeah i had to take alot apart just to get to the valve cover, battery is great especially considering it hasn't had road time in months and is constantly being used to crank the car run diagnostics then unhooked again for days, only thing I haven't put my eyes on is the timing chain and gears, i was mildly concerned with the way my #4 valve looked, and at one point while turning the motor with my wrench, one spot seemed to be free in a section, like maybe a tooth or something was gone

I wired up the reverse lock out solenoid and finally upgraded the firmware on the ecu so I can connect my new laptop to it. It has not been revving correctly since I got the trans back on as for the first half a second if you hit the throttle it would bog down and then rev up as normal. I wanted to see what the tps was reading but as I said the new laptop had a newer version of the firmware on it so I needed to upgrade the ecu. I am not sure if I am any different from anyone else but I HATE updating/upgrading firmware/software myself but I got through it, uploaded the old global file back to the car and then I needed to to a tps calibration before starting it. I think I found my problem because the tps will not program and reads a low voltage err. I had the intake off when I replaced the leaking valve cover gaskets and now it does not want to snap into place for some reason. Hopefully replacing it will fix it.

Just got the 96 GT back from Firestone (got some new tires and an alignment). I put in LED bulbs last night. I have a (short) list of stuff to do before the summer is up

I went back and checked the position by the air being pushed out of #1 it seemed like it was 180 out, so i fixed it, and got it to crank, i had to make ridiculous amounts of adjustments to get it to stop knocking, but finally got it where it sounded ok, but could not get a reading from the timing light, i have no idea where it was related to the tdc mark, i shut it off, couldn't get it to crank again, went back and checked the position again, this time it hit tdc of the (what i assumed is the compression stroke) at just below tdc , and still wouldn't crank, I'm almost positive I'm doing this right, but idk what's going on, I'm probably going to get a chain and gears this weekend

take a closer look at your balancer and make sure your hitting the right timing marks. If you have not use a paint pen/sharpie to mark the spots your looking for to be sure. The first time I did my timing I discovered that there are more marks on there than I though and they were REALLY hard to see.

I did, i have 0, 10, 12 and 14 all marked a different color, my harmonic balancer is easy to see , i really thought it would be harder (like yesterday) but the first couple times I messed with it Friday it wasn't that difficult. i went under the car and cleaned the surface of the balancer and marked the ones i thought i would need.

Well, I didn’t do it (the mechanic did), but I FINALLY got my A/C fixed! Got a referral from another local mechanic (alignment specialist) and our schedules finally collided. I was pretty nervous about it because you never know if it’s going to be a total rebuild or refurbishing... or a relatively quick/easy fix. I was anticipating leaving the car there for 3-4 days, but 2 hours later he called me back and it was fixed! Turns out the system had no refrigerant and a leaky inlet valve. Both are remedied and the system blows nice and cold!
98 degree heat with no A/C in a black/black car isn’t much fun! But no more...I’m cruising cool & comfy!

Wasn’t concerned with dissecting the selector issue and “why the ‘mix’ feature won’t work”, but that’s a whole other undertaking probably involving 6-8 hours of dash disassembly/reassembly to rectify. So not worth it to me. The “vent” and “floor” selectors work fine and that’s good enough for me.
