I have a 94 gt automatic which is my daily driver. I am wanting to put gears in it, and i was wanting to know what would be a good ratio. I am leaning more toward the 3.55. any suggestion would be helpful

3:55's are way off for a auto, nothing less than 3:73's the 4:10's would be better and 4:30's would be awesome

i wouldnt go anything more than 3.73 if u do a lot of highway driving.i had 3.73s and a auto and was tacking 3k rpms all the time .i didnt fix my speedo so i vave no idea how fast i was going but 80-90 mph.if its a cruiser or just drive around town go at least 4.10s.

3.73 may not be enough and 4.10 would probably be too much on a DD so i'd go with 3.90

I have been told that the tranmissions have trouble with gears 4.10 and up. Is that true? So are yall saying that I would not benifit from the 3.55.

3.55 arnt that great. They were sluggish with me and my 5-speed. I went to 4.10's and I may suggest you do the same. 4.10's rock, but the motive 3.90's wouldnt be a bad idea.

mos def 4.10s (its what i have). 4.30s are too much gear and 3.73 is too little. dont even think about 3.55

I had them in my 98Gt and liked them just fine, not too much and not too little. :) I had 373's in a 96GT about 6 years ago, they worked well too

Ok im in same boat the OP is... bone stock AOD 95 GT.. and she is my DD.. but right now im miserable with the AOD... (always had 5 speed T5s before)

so 4:10s or 3:90s are defiantly what the majority here would recomend..

on a stock AOD does this have any negative things to worry about.. I have 2:73s in my car right now... it should be a tremendous differnce in acceleration but how about the rev range on the highway? and to get the most outa a gear changce do I have to have a shiftkit/stall installed?

i have been there, i had a 95GT with AODE...... with an automatic car with overdrive, the 4.10 is the best gear.

when i got my cobra i went with 4.10's and they were too low for the cobra tranny (3.35 first gear) so i went with 3.73's for a little bit taller first gear.

now as for your speedo, dallas mustang has a SpeedCal that will get your speedo within 1% of accurate. my odometer reads 9.9 miles after traveling 10 miles. SpeedCal is about 90 bux.

i have heard (not confirmed) that the motive 3.90's tend to whine a little. that's why i went with the FRPP 3.73's.

good luck!
