No, it has an insulated copper wire surrounded by a clear tube , inside another tube with a black plug in the end of it. I can not find any purpose for it and don't know what it is.

It was just laying back with the rear amps and conv top motor. Wasn't attached to anything. Just laying loose back there.

It is some sort of antenna that is attached to the keyless entry system in the trunk

ya know it almost looks like an radio antenna. Its not stock being ran outside the factory wiring. The fender mount can be a pia and this would work and be easier.

I can't tell you what it is, but I can tell you my '95 doesn't have one.

EDIT: I should say "I didn't see anything like this when I had mine apart." That said, the clips indicate to me that it's supposed to be mounted up and not dangling/lying there.

My 98 vert has that too, it's not an antenna. Can't remember what it was hooked to.

are you sure you don't have an wet spots in the car after it rains or you wash it? I swear I though it was some kind or routing for a drain to allow water to get out from some cavity that the convertible collected water in.

I have it in my 98 Vert, someone else said too...but I'm fairly certain that it is the wire for the keyless entry (fob), it should be hooked into a box mounted to the wall on the left hand side of your trunk, behind the covers. You may not be able to trace it completely since there is a bundle of wire that run along that side of the truck and frame.
