So with the pushrod 302 a cam swap will gain next to nothing with stock heads, maybe 5-10 hp at the wheels. What kind of gains are yall getting after a swap? What's the stock lift and what is the lift of the popular cams used with stock bottom ends?
Just curious.

What year?

96-98 NPI with stock Intake you might gain 15-20hp because the Intake is a POS.

99-04 PI you will gain 25-30hp on a stock engine.

He mentioned a stock 302. Idk if most go to the work of swapping a cam, and then leave the junk E7's bolted on. Cant find a set of GT40/40P's?

But this is the 2v section

I will start off by saying the question is too general.

caveat don't expect LS numbers from a modular cam swap. With a 4.6 lift can quickly run you into PTV issues.....

In my personal opinion cams are mostly cosmetic when not a part of a specified combo. Its totally fine to pick a cam soley on how it sounds.... its better to have a great combo H/C/I/FI though. There is so much to this topic...

Oh, sorry, my bad. I usually just click on threads that are "unread". The wording is not great, and definitely vague.

Yall answered it well enough. I understand combos etc. I was just curious because it seems like there are quite a few modular guys doing cam swaps w out swapping heads.
*edit* no not too many pushrod guys are swapping cams unless they do the whole topend. H/c/i
