Hi all, on my 2001 ford mustang GT I'm running j10" x17" wheels all round. I have 275/40/17 tyres up front which look good on the wheel but I've got 315/35/17" tyres on the rear which look crap and not only do they look crap I managed to roll the tyre of the wheel luckily no damage to the wheel. Anyway my question is what size tryes should be on this size wheel?

And two of the rear tyres size 315/35/17. They always look flat even though they have 36psi in them. What would you lot say are the correct tyre size for these wheels? Screenshot_20191103-153906.png Screenshot_20191103-153728.png Screenshot_20191103-153906.png Screenshot_20191103-153728.png

Are you sure that’s a 10” wheel? That really looks like a 9” wheel. A bunch of people run 315’s but I think the general consensus is that a 295 tire fits better on a 10” wheel and doesn’t budge.

Can you double check the size in the rear? No one makes a Cobra rep in 17x10. They're usually 17x10.5. The 18's are usually 10" wide.

The only time I've had a 315 bulge like that it was on a 9" rim. Unless the tires you're running are really wide for their size.

The 1st # of metric sized tires is the tread width.
315mm converted is 12.4" wide. The 2nd # is a percentage of the 315 and is the side wall height. 315 x 50% = or 12.4" x 40% = 4.9".

Blak on what calculator is 50% of 12.4” only 4.9?!?

Well finally had a chance to look at the wheels and YES you lot are correct they are only 9" wide wheels not the 10" wide that the previous owner told me. So now I know why the rear tyres look so wrong

Glad you got that figured out. Those tires would look a whole lot better on 10.5” wheels, and wouldn’t bulge near as much. With your 9” wheels, you’ll probably want to run a 275 wide tire.
