royal purple ATF tranny fluid or Synchromax manual tranny fluid ???? as you all kno I will be installing my new clutch soon. My car is a 98 so does anyone know if my car specifies an automatic transmission fluid, motor oil(ATF tranny fluid ) or if it is recommended and requires Ford Mercon® or GM Dexron® III transmission fluids.(Synchromax manual tranny fluid ) ??? please :help2:
95% sure you use the ATF tranny fluid - i know its wierd how they tell you to use auto fluid even if its a manual
thanx angie....I will get ATF when I put in new tranny oil in. will I need a lil more than 3 qts if I flush tranny like u need with the synchromax tranny oil or will just 3 qts be good enough ?
OH SHIT!!!!!!! i just realized i fucked up..... :hammer: my bad......... i mixed them up LMAO!!!!! suppose to be- recommended and requires Ford Mercon® or GM Dexron® III transmission fluids-ATF tranny fluid - car specifies an automatic transmission fluid, motor oil- Synchromax manual tranny fluid my bad, hahahahaha........ok so which one do I use again ?
really you can use either one.... mercon type is the ATF fluid, but syncromax is specifically designed for manual transmissions that require auto tranny fluid..... go with the syncromax (better shifting power)
Fluid - M/T Notes NOTE: Use the following Ford recommended fluids or an equivalent meeting the applicable Ford specification. ATF Transmission Fluid, MERCON Multi-Purpose Part No. XT-2-QDX Specification Mercon(r)
