I am selling my car because its boring and I want to get down pat on how to drive a 5 speed and everyone tells me they are much funner to drive blahbalhbalh :blah2:. Well I've been talking to this guy who is selling his 96 Cobra for around 7500 and has a few mods like exhaust, saleens, lowerd etc. But I always wanted to get a new edge gt and do the silver with black rims/tinted tails/tint/wingless etc because I think they look sexy when people do that color combo.

Basically what would you do, buy a SN95 Cobra, or a new edge GT to have fun with? I mean power dont really matter, but Im sure their somewhere in the same HP range? But Which is faster? Say a 96 Cobra, or a new edge gt (99-01)? Im just trying to spend 10-11gs, nothing tooo crazy as I'll probally end up selling it in a few years and dont went a big car payment if I have to have one..

Honestly they are in the same range as far as power, the Cobra may respond to the basic mods slightly better but if you dig the new edge I say get it. If money were no object and I could only have 2 Mustangs I would have my car and an 03 GT pimped to the max for a driver and my current car would become a weekend/track car, more like a streetable track car. And no I would not get a GT500 or an 03/04 Cobra, my car is the only SVT for me (yes I know a GT500 is not an SVT vehicle).

Is there any power difference in the 99-04 GTs? Or are they all basically the same?

get a 01+ GT unless you feel like spending a few hundred trying to make a 99-01 GT look different than a 99-04 V6.

If there is a power difference man, I doubt its very much. And DFG is right, you should definitely get an 01 or up car. The 4V over 2V part as you said, is debatable.

you will want teh 4V just because of the exhaust...my GT is louder, but the Cobra is the cat's meow. especially at idle. :boink: :boink: :boink:

The 96-98 cobras are decent. I bet you could swing a decent new edge cobra for a bit more then you plan on paying but not by much. That would be your best bet, new looks and 4v engine

But if its down to a 98 cobra vs a 99 gt with similar miles ect, I would go with the snake. Revs better, looks just as good, responds to mods well.

uhhh theres a pretty substantial power difference between the sn cobras and the new edge gt's.

sn cobra has 305hp and the gt only has 265. plus the cobra has an aluminum block and responds very fkn well to gearing

4V over 2V any day of the week. Once you have a 4V you will be saying to yourself "what was I thinking". You will never want to go back to a 2V.

96-98 Cobra is a limited production car and will hold its value alot better than a GT.

There is a 96 S281 supercharged for cheap on ebay.(silver) To bad it wont be for seel in a couple months or I would get it.

that's one of the few reasons i would buy something new with my car being paid for, if i had an auto. sports cars with auto's just don't make sense to me. :dunno: :lame:

SN95 cobra for the reasons everyone else said. They are faster than a new edge gt, cooler, and respond way better to mods.
