How much are 96 to 98 cobra engines going for? I was thinking about scrapping the PI Swap and going for the gusto.

Start searching on eBay, that's probably your best bet or just check every mustang for sale forum out there. This is what I want to do eventually

It'd be close in price (maybe even cheaper) to punch it out, stroke it, do forged internals, and do a 3V conversion...

thats my .02...

not to mention you'd make more power...

and then if ya really wanted more power... throw a Novi on or a 150shot

add it up man. with all the extra's for a motor swap, you may as well mod the 2V.
remember the 302 is a 2V.
and the 4 valve's (except the 03-04 cobra) are not forged, and will need a rebuild to push much past 500 HP anyway.

The PI and a power adder is much more cost effective.

yeah
jsut to get this out,
my friend has a 99 GT VERT w/nothing but flows and itll run
the 96-98 cobras all day. they make nowhere near the "305HP"
that ford said they did. +1 to snakebit. if you gotta do the conversion
do a mach or the newest cobra engine (post 1999) you can afford.

Thanks for all the input guys, i can tell you all know what im feeling, Hell driving a Mustang GT and it pulls like a big old fat pig. I have the money for one of those PI Swap kits and i thought of waiting to the good old income tax time and looking for a engine swap.

well, i don't know. I've never seen a stock pi car outrun a 96-98 cobra. even with cams and stuff it still had trouble keeping up. But if you want to do the swap, i would go get a mark 8 motor and then get the intake and cams for the 98 and all the other nic nacks and good thing is you can still use your gt wireing and computer, just mod the wires and get a cobra tune. Good luck

yeah but the "potential" for the 4v is greater.
but then again the best way to get more power is to go bigger.
go with whatever you can afford.
dont do the 3v swap imo....cost just as much as a 4v (about)
