I felt the same about my cbr and that was my problem, I could not ride it like an adult should. I was just a dumbass kid... Now today after I have learned to ride a wheelie I know I better not as I am still a dumb ass kid lookin at my 44 yr old body.

So, you were a bit cooler than me. :p . The FZR came out just after i bought my bike and friend had one. I thought mine was quick until he got his. lol. But, i was cool enough to be the 1st to use a slip on pipe in my little gang back then.

Mine was a 95. I bout it in 97 with less than 1,000 miles on it. I had never ridden a motorcycle before that. Got a wild hair up my arse and went and paid cash for it and a new Shoei Helmet that matched the bike. Killed it once getting out of the driveway and figured it out really quick. Cruised across Purdue’s campus and then froze my arse off riding back to Indy that night.

Not much progress to speak of but I have most everything on hand to really get this thing up to snuff. I’m also well on my way to getting my riders gear locked down.

More gear, parts and tools

1) Servo buddy: This is sort of like a MIL eliminator for the exhaust servo.

2) Chain breaker and rivet tool

3) Battery

4) Alpinestars T-faster jacket (mesh, for warm weather)

My “success fat” didn’t jive with the Alpinestars jacket at all.. Seems XL really means L in Europe :( Picked up a 2XL and it fits like you’d think XL would.

...and I’m losing weight sheesh! Spent a little extra and bought into the “next tier” and I’m glad I did.

The servo buddy plugged right in and cleared the “FI” light off the dash. Bike runs pretty good for having crappy fuel in the tank. I’m going to add some seafoam to the crap, let it run out and then I’ll change the fuel filter.

Recently had some doubts about the cooling fan. It didn’t seem to kick on like it had when I first got the bike to Charlie’s. So, let the engine warm up long enough to hear the fan cycle and now I’m satisfied it works properly. It kicks on @ 220* F and off at 212* F. I’m assuming the ghetto switch was to cycle the fan sooner. It didn’t work.

Today, I changed the oil and installed the exhaust. I also removed the old rear tire and dropped off the “new” wheel to have new bearing installed. I’m going to be installing the new chain next weekend.

When I reached the stopping point, I put the upper fairing back on and installed the new mirrors.
