Installed the MBRP street cat back after work today. The install instructions will have you double working and I wadded them up. The fit and finish was nice for the the price point and I’d buy it again. The first start was a bit under whelming but it’ll grow on me. There is next to no drone but I’ll report back on that tomorrow after my 100 mile work commute.

Sounds good. I fought the exhaust on my 3V the entire time I had it, never could get it like I wanted.

Added a couple of rear hangers and had the hangers on the mufflers adjusted to line the axle back up a little more. It isn't perfect but it is an improvement..

I’ve decided to make some meaningful suspension updates to set this car up as a back up autocross ride..

Kicked this off with a set of Steeda struts/shocks and a fresh set of their Sport springs. The factory struts are shot and the strut mount bushings are in poor shape. It even has a slight bind that requires more input to overcome and that’s concerning. Once I have them in hand, I’ll be installing them with a set of GT500 strut mounts. These probably won’t win any races but should restore ride quality and the car will be more fun to drive hard.

There will be follow up modifications in the coming weeks/months.

You can flip the GT500 mounts 180 degrees and get some camber back if you need it. There's some threads on the S197 forum about that. I did it when I did my '06, but that's been a minute so I don't remember all the details.

Thanks for the Intel. I’ll research this.

Recently, I changed out the blown stock struts/shocks for Steeda Pro Action stuff. Not going to win any races with them but at least the car isn’t a wallowing pig any longer. The goal is to upgrade to Vorshlag/MCS TT1 coil overs but I had to do something in the meantime. Terry has laid a solid path for me to follow and I’m excited for what I’ll come.

The install was extremely straightforward and almost too easy.

Apparently, we took the rear bump stops out completely at some point.

Look at that witness mark! That’s how shitty things had gotten when the shocks deteriorated.

I am happy with the ride height and can turn my attention to other things, for now. Now that the suspension is a little tighter, I’ve now realized some of the bushings must be worn. When you weave the car back and forth quickly you can feel it. You can also hear it squeak when you rock the car in park. I’ll have to decide what gets replaced first.

The next few things I plan to address:

1. AC blend door actuator failing
2. fuel filter
3. Revise catch can setup
4. Fresh window tint
