What started out as my first Mustang [2006] has turned into one hell of a learning experience. I have made mistakes with my engine combo, double [hell, triple] spent on certain items, and even re-purposed the entire project three times. When the original 5.0 developed a rod knock [2008], we replaced it with a simple 306 [2009] with ported heads, E303 cam and an explorer intake that made 243/298. It served me well for about six months when it lost oil pressure and I parked it. After some decision making, I had a 410w built and thats when things got frusterating. The project went on a roller coaster of highs and lows for a few years [2009-2012] and work was only sporadic at best. The paint mostly fell off, parts were stolen, finally got it running [2013] but discovered the valve springs were too soft. That led to the already junk heads being CNC ported, correct valve springs installed, a new intake, and long tube headers being installed.

[2014] Along the way, I had even started collecting parts for an IRS swap but then sold the IRS swap for a watts link

[2015] After changing my mind AGAIN, I'm going with a PHB/HD torque arm combo from Maximum Motorsports. Fought with valvetrain issues and the project mostly stood still due to budget reasons.

[2016] Wrecked my daily driver '98 GT, sold the 410w and bought a rebuilt 4.6 4V from a wrecked 98 Cobra. The original intent was to make three cars into one. Then I discovered the 4v had a couple of burnt valves and a blown head gasket. Crap. So, I just bought a 2015 F150 for a daily driver.

[2017] Collected parts, stripped the '95 to the shell and completely rewired it to '98 specs.

[2018] Built the engine with a metric #### ton of help from @lwarrior1016 and have spent the rest of the year "finishing it".

[2019] Ok, so I still haven’t finished it. So far this year (4-24-19) I’ve mostly finished the Holley HP installation, relocated the battery to the trunk and I’m closing in on a first start.

(8-3) Finally have gotten all of the Maximum Motorsports suspension parts installed and swapped out some old body panels for better parts. It’s crunch time. (again)

(9-11) Oh, hai... I bought a Coyote engine LOL

(10-16) The Holley installation is complete. The fuel system leaks in a few places and will be totally replaced. After years of working in my spare time, I finally had the Holley EFI and 4.6 4v sorted.

(12-27) It runs!! Ran into some issues with tuning and decided to not waste my time with it.

[2020]

(May) Found a buyer for the 4V, traded William the T45 for some T56 parts and I'm finally going to Coyote swap this sucker.

(06-27) William and I dropped the car onto the Coyote engine.

(08-08) After four months of working on this in my spare time and one full steam ahead workday with William to finalize the T56 Magnum install, we were rewarded with hearing the Coyote roar to life!!

Painted the door panels, kick panels and dashboard black. Also changed the stock '95 console out for a '98, but it was charcoal. my interior has been confused ever since.

Zach changing my balljoints... notice the purple Tenzo R springs... anyone want a cheap set of springs?

This was the return trip from getting an alignment.

It only cost 18.50 to fill up.

Parked next to Wes' ragtop for ride height comparison. Hey, don't let it fool you with its innocent looks... The blower whine tells a different tale...

Project Sleeper

Here's the latest video in the saga of Super Bastard* A perfect illustration of classic 5.0 idle surge. She also is running very rich and [with topless95's suggestion] I now suspect there's a vaccum leak somewhere. When I go back, I plan to clean the IAC, check the TPS voltage and possibly ''reclock'' the MAS. I deleted the EGR [wes turned it of in the ECM to complete the job] this go round and switched from a fenderwell CAI to a underhood type. I've been told [and read] that when putting a filter on the intake pipe in front of the MAS causes a lean condition. The filter is from my fenderwell intake, and is pitifully small. I plan to buy a AFM power pipe whenever I get around to upgrading to an aftermarket intake. I still have the factory 19 lb squirters in place, and still don't know how maxed out they are yet. Probably not close since I have alot of stock parts in place [MAS, Tbody, intake] I'm getting close to the point where I can have the tune completed, get some ''baseline'' figures on the dyno and take her to the track for a good flogging (edit: I never went to the track FAIL)

[* My car is a bastard because its a 95 GT with a 351w, tremec trans, s197 seats, new edge carpet/interior pieces and most internet vendors dont have a 94-95 section... redheaded stepchilds]

Thanks, I never weighed them, but the konig 18s were alot lighter than my 03 Cobra 17s. I attribute some of that to the tires. on the cobras I had 275/40s on 9" fronts and 315/35s on the 10.5" rear wheels. On the 18s are 245/40s and 295/35s. The 18's apparently lifted my car up at least an inch as well. gave the longtubes a break!

i run 18"s, and I can tell you they lift the car, but make it look slammed too. I hardly scrape on stuff too. Are those Koing Villians?

Re: Project Sleeper

Did you know the ugly snowflake wheels that came on the 99-01 GT's weigh 17 a piece? I didnt know either. those are going on my car with race tires on them.

I think those wheels look way better than the snowflake though.

Re: Project Sleeper

You can tell three things by looking at this picture.

allcleanedup by oldawgnewtrikz, on Flickr

1] I washed my car
2] I really need a paint job
3] The ride height is a little higher now

I just couldn't stand seeing all that ''tree cum'' all over my car any longer. The car wash is > a half mile from the shop, which turned out to be a good thing. My fan belt decided to shredd itself, and wind up on the nose of the power steering pump pulley. I remember buying that belt, a short belt [to bypass smog and a/c] for 12 bucks. El Cheap-o especiale, kids, you get what you pay for. It's replacement was $40 [!!!] before the shop discount knocked it down to $28. The ride height is somewhat taller due to new ball joints and an alignment. No rub, no scrub, no problems...
