“Finished” the AN power steering hose swap!!

The finalized routing just needs to be permanently mounted:

The tee fitting for the low pressure side:

Reservoir to tee:

The rack connection:

Cheap but effective

It was brought to my attention that the power steering fitting blocks a fluid passage. I took the stock fitting out of an old pump to see what he meant and found this:

Did some research and found a thread over on the TCCOA forum where someone found an easy fix by cutting the Russell fitting down:

More on this at a later date!!

Well, I took the 86-95 style radiator out I favor of a 96-04 style unit. Didn’t realize the upper and lower mounts were completely different. Well, I looked around my hoard and found a bracket that looked feasible enough to modify into a suitable pair of upper mounts.

The idea was to use some of the existing holes in the core support to keep from unnecessarily modifying the car for a temporary fix.

Took a few measurements and started to whack metal with my Dremel tool. Didn’t take any pictures of the process but you’ll get the idea.

The goal here is to either use a small u-bolt to hold the peg in place or simply just leave it as-is. It’s rock solid.

Did some minor fit work to allow the drivers side to fit flush.

Here’s how it’ll look with the expansion tank in place. Now I’ll remove the mounts and paint them black.

what happened to the passenger side rad mount? Mine had the same mount on both sides and I made a bracket that was almost the same on both sides. Also if your switching to the 94-95 style it looks like there is space alongside the fan for the 94-95 style overflow tank if you do not like the top mounted style.

96 is different than the 97-04. mounting points are different and the fan is different....bigger. use that if you had the choice.

If you mean the upper mount, it's just temporary. I just haven't gotten my hands on some mod car specific rad mounts just yet. If you mean the lower mount, I cut the post off.

So, that shit didn’t work. The bracket we welded on wasn’t completely lined up and I had to start over. This time, I found a Mach 1 crossover and it fits like a charm. Now I can move on to the remaining items on my punch list.

I think I’m on the verge of the first start. Belt, hoses, fluids, prime the oil & fuel system, check for leaks and see if the stupid thing runs!

Do you realize this has been going on since 2009? Anyway, I’m going to try to fire it up this weekend. I still have to sort the PCV system, do a round of nut/bolt checking, leak test the fuel system but should be good to go.

There’s actually oil in the engine for the first time! I just need coolant, PS fluid, brake fluid and some 93 in the tank.

So your not at the 4 year mark. Trust me, very hard to get back at it when you haven’t touched it once in almost 4 years.

So hurry up and don’t forget my Smokey burnout vids!!!!!!! ;-)
