Do the setup for the dash while the wheel is still out. Its a PIA to set it all up while hunched over looking through the wheel. Best advice I can give is to use a pencil with an eraser.

What does the tick fuel thingy do?

It connects to the wiring for the fuel level cheaper than buying the Holley I/o harness.

I have a USB mouse for setup.

After sorting through some wiring I dicked up, things went well. It wasn’t bad but I had chosen the wrong contact in the ignition switch. Instead of the ECU powering up in the run position, it came on when you twisted the key to start. So, I was holding the key forward to take the picture last night. This also was an easy way to confirm I had the starter relay wiring correct.Easy fix and afterward was able to update my ECU firmware from V1 to V4.

How close am I you ask? Wire up the fuel pump relay, wire the engine fan, connect the MAP sensor to a vacuum source, connect the o2 sensor, introduce fuel, introduce coolant, leak test the fuel system, install a fresh battery and cowabunga!!!

Pending all of the aforementioned and a pre-start check list, this baby is FINALLY ready to run!

Sergio Tuning provided the start tune.

There’s also this.....mess. I’ve decided to switch to a plastic Moroso box. Why? Sparks. Sparks flew today while disconnecting the hot lead and I don’t like sparks!! The aluminum has to go!

I didn't know you could do such a thing. Makes me glad to know I added the usb port for the dash below the deck. I will have to pick one up.

Too many fuel leaks to try to run the car. On a brighter note, the fuel system works, LOL.

Here’s the preliminary look of my electrical system in the trunk. Some fine tuning and better wire routing for the fuel pump relay will happen as well as the battery terminal covers. I’m also going to upgrade to an AGM battery.

Since I have to drop the tank anyway to secure the battery box, I’m going to ditch the stock fuel lines at the same time. Ordered enough hose, fittings, QFS 340lph E85 ready pump and an in-line fuel filter. Just need to settle on a flex fuel sensor now and add that to the mix.

while you are there and in the area if you are keeping the in tank pump, give some thought to possibly cutting an access panel for the top of the tank to make it easier to dick with if you have to.

Decided to go forward with more fuel system updating. New APFR. New fuel rails. I’m building this basic setup with stainless fittings and more PTFE lines stainless hose.

Installed my new fuel rails as a first step in the fuel system revamp. Didn’t have any hardware so I decided to modify some stud/bolts to work. They had captured washers that didn’t fit the rails so I had to create this travesty:

In the process I managed to strip the threads in one of the holes.

After a trip to the hardware store for a M6x1.0 tap and some new hardware I had it all cinched up.

Fore fuel rails, stainless fittings and stainless hardware:

Now that I’m doing this again, I’ll try to clean the wiring up even more than before.

Left it here in the middle of pulling the fuel pressure sensor wiring back through the harness since I’ll be using it now. Decided to tackle a project on the truck, which whipped my ass.

I’m going to replace all of that old hardware for the alternator mount with stainless bolts soon. For about $1.25 per bolt/washer, why not?

Bay is looking good. Is there any way to upgrade or clean up the coolant crossover tube? Sticks out like a sore thumb. If you could also clean up the driverside fender apron it would make a world of difference. Even if you dont relocate the fusebox a little neater wire routing or tucking on that side would make a huge difference. Take it with a grain of salt cause you know im just super ocd. Lol

OCD? Nooo... Let's call it clinically meticulous? :D I will eventually tidy that up when i swap the Coyote engine in but for now the focus is getting the main systems to work. That being said, I have some split braided wire loom to combine it all and it'll follow the main power harness.

As for the coolant crossover, I'd have to paint it in place. Really just needs to be cleaned and I have a new plug for the vapor relief port. It was such a pain to install I'll be damned if I pull it out again without great cause lol

I let the fuel system whip my ass but I will try again this weekend. Long story short, I attempted to change directions with a fitting after it was in the car. Double wrench method. This led to a twist/kink halfway down the line and that effectively ruined that section. Moral? Determine exactly what you're doing before you do it with PTFE lined fuel hose. It's fragile.

Oh and I was able to put the tail pipes in place.. These days 2.5” exhaust just doesn’t have the visual impact like it used to.
