Sliced and diced the CF fenders a bit.

Put the busted Saleen bumper back on.

Yikes… It’s going to clear the 315’s and I can deal with the ugly bumper until I get a new one.

Throttle cable popped. Rigged up a hand throttle with some stainless wire I just happened to have with me and drove it 15 miles to the house.

Tomorrow, I’m going to bolt it up and hear how it sounds. Gonna take it off after and buff those welds smooth.

Waiting on some rear hangers to begin working the tail pipes into the mix.

My cool in 2007, IRS exhaust under the SRA project! Round 2

My buddy cleaned the welds up and I think it came out great.

Bolted it up to hear it. This is by no means the finished product.

Again, with the tailpipes sort of just hanging out.

I also installed the new throttle cable today and tomorrow I will be tightening the loose driveshaft bolts then installing the mufflers without tail pipes. Probably going to drive it that way for a week or two until we can tackle the tail pipes.

My cool in 2007, IRS exhaust under the SRA project! Round 3

Leveled the mufflers and put temporary hangers in place. Put the car on the ground, scratched my head and realized my error. Crap! They’re too low!

Didn’t account for the floor pan and couldn’t rotate the mufflers into place as intended.

Added 2” to the length of the driver flow tube. Didn’t like how close the passenger muffler was to the torque arm and decide to add to the offset as well as the over all length.

They’re still too low, even with the pipe adjustments. The 6” case is just too big for this car at my ride height. The bottom of the pipe is even with the suspension. That’s good. If the mufflers were 4” case, then clearance would be perfect.

We’re going switch them to something else so I can drive the car. Not missing the next autocross due to exhaust! We’re going to pause this project until we can have the car at his house to fit as we go.

Ugh!

Exhaust system project update…

I’ve decided that the IRS tailpipe under the SRA at my ride height was a terrible idea. I’m left with two options:

1. Custom 3” tail pipes over the axle such as these:

2. Side exhaust similar to this:

or like @Frank.JD.Perez ‘s setup:

Decisions, decisions… I’m probably going to install the Magnapacks with turndowns this weekend because I hate having parts to install laying around.

I've been wanting to do tailpipes on my car. I'm sure they'll be a pain to fit with your torque arm and panhard bar, but probably worth it in the end. I've just never been a huge fan of side pipes since they hang so low.

The side exhaust is still going to limit the space below it with the tip hanging off the side. You will crush the tip rather than the muffler when it hits. Is there a reason your not going with the standard shaped muffler and going round? If you look at the side exhaust muffler it does not stick up above or below the pipe as much and would gain you that last 2" that you have been wanting.

I'm not a huge fan of side exhaust, although it looks nice, on these cars just because theirs not enough "comfort" room for me. Trying to run a 3" pipe is going to be tight out the back for sure, but I believe it could be done. When I changed mine (2 1/2"), I went with the Dynopac Turbo which gave me ample room underneath like the pancake ones in your pic.
