I found my TR code was K, so I guess that means I have the TR-3650 mustang transmission. Is one better than the other. Why is their 3 transmissions for our cars? I want to get a short-throw shifter and saw that the best one was the MGW one, so gonna go with that one I think

Either T5 or T56, lol.

The T5 was GT 5 speed till 95, then T45 took over behind the 4.6. The T3650 took its place in 01/02 i think.

T56 is 03/04 Cobra.

You left out the Tremec 3550 for the 94-95 cobra R, AODE and the 4R70W lol.

That's odd isn't it for one car with basically the same body style and just a few minor tweeks has that many different 5 speed transmissions? Is any of them better than the others? DO they all drive and feel the same?

A few minor tweaks? 94/95 has an entire different engine than 96-04. The 03/04 cobra wouldn't last long with a GT transmission. I feel like the T3650 was possibly an answer to some issues they were having with a T45 so they replaced it. The 3650 is stronger (according to specs, so thats probably why the change).

We haven't even mentioned a V6, lol. But the V6 and 5.0 have the same bellhousing bolt patterns. smaller clutch/flywheel though, the sixer also received the T5, but got a stronger T5 in 1996.

Was it the T56 that had the 26 spline input shaft? Or am I thinking of something else?

They're all 10 spline input. one of the most popular upgrades is the 26 spline input/clutch etc
