Is it ok to weld a bung beside the stock location of the o2 bung sensor?

Have a stock h-pipe with shorties. AEM suggests 18" from exhaust port and upstream of cats.
18" from #8 or 4 exhaust port would be right smack in the middle of the first cat.

Thanks in advance.

Do you have to have all 4 cats? The only problem I see putting them that close is maybe the first sensor impeding the flow/reading across the second sensor.

I wondered the same thing, but have no experience, so that's why I'm asking.

Have the h-pipe off. A new bung close to the o2 bung can be positioned so as not to be directly inline with the o2 sensor, but still very, very close. The o2 sensor only protrudes an 1" or so into the pipe. Can I assume that the wide band sensor would also protrude only about an 1" or so?

Yes, the wideband should protrude about the same as the stock sensor. If you can clock it so the sensors aren’t in line, you’ll probably be fine.

Update:
Welded bungs on each side, in very close proximity to the 02 bungs. Bought an AEM 300 x series wide band, seems to work ok. First big test will be whenever the track opens. Installed sensor on the left side.

Thanks for the help/info.
