probably 275. 285 pushing it. try to go as wide as 10 or 11 if you can. backspacing will only mean so much when your tires are restricted by the width of the rim. i ran 275s on my 17x8 cobras and they were pretty maxed out. they had 30mm offset too and didnt rub. i run 275s on my 18x9s and still theyre pretty close to being maxed out. 295 is probably pushing it for a 9 inch rim

I am currently running a 275/40/17 on the stock rims. So, you're saying that a 275/40/19 would work on the rear?

they should fit without much issue if any. also a 25mm or 38mm spacer (1 in & 1.5 respectively) should push them out to be flush with the quarter panels if you want the flush look

I do want the flush look, but worry about using such a large spacer. Especially since I am considering a 427cid stroker and possibly a turbo. I wouldn't want any issues with snapping studs or axles.

go with 1 inch spacers on the rear. make sure the spacers are good too, not some cheap crap. they wont be completely flush but it will look worlds better. 30mm just sits in too much. the inch extension shouldnt really do much on a large enough scale to snap. also make sure the bolts you use are flush with the top of the spacers or sink in a tad. if they dont then youll have issues with the rim fitting correctly and then things REALLY get fun...ask me how i know

a 315 or a 335 will fit under the rear of your car. The better question is, how wide of a wheel are you honestly trying to run?

You asked about a 19x8.5. If I were you, I wouldnt go any wider than a 245/255. Youre actually kinda screwing yourself over with such a narrow wheel.

You might want to consider downsizing to a 17 or 18, which will give you more wheel and tire options. Especially with the power that you're eluding to attaining.

that's a tall tire on a tall wheel man i can't imagine that looking good lol. if you're not concerned with looks whatsoever and aren't lowered much at all you can probably stuff a 40 series tire in there but i wouldn't do anything wider or taller on a 19x8.5 than a 275/35/19. a 275/30 even on a 19. you're asking about the "widest" tire not the tallest right?

I think you're pushing it quite a bit trying to go that wide. You're looking at major bulge issues. I would look closer to 255 to maybe 265.

Basically what Adder said.

The wheels that I was looking at are the 2015 19" split 5 spoke wheels that American Muscle sells. I don't like that they only offer 8.5" wide though. I really like the GT4 wheels that they used to offer but they no longer offer them anymore. Does anyone know if I can use the 05-15 wheels on my 95 cobra? With or without spacers? I read that Maximum Motorsports makes great hub centric spacers. Any other companies?

when I got my wheels off of craigs list they had a suckittome 335 but it would rub on bumps or hard corners.
