Will a 3v tool work on my 2v?

It should. They have similar (if not the same) timing components and the blocks are all interchangeable. I think it’ll work.

I second that it should work, just make sure it’s wedged in there securely. I made something that looked just like that but with a thick hanger and block of wood

What is it?
A wedge that goes in between the timing chain down in the front cover. It’s supposed to lock the chain in place so you can do a cam swap without pulling the front cover. You have to be real careful and make sure you get in there good.

It should work like these guys are saying. But it’s not that bad of a process to take the cover off and doit that way imo, you get to know for sure that everything is lined up and you could replace any guides that may be worn/broken and make sure it’s all spot on. Now given I haven’t done it myself but from what I’ve been told (here included) it’s better to go that route and yank the cover. But it is doable with the wedge! I’ve used it to replace a phaser on a 3v with success
