Need help please. I have a 00 Mustang GT i just bought a few months ago. Drove great with no major problems and no leaks. I did drive it hard because it’s a fun car and drove it a lot everyday. I have no mechanical experience. One day it wouldnt go into gear so i tightened the cable and that worked. Shifted even better than before. Then some weeks later it wouldnt go into gear again so i tightened the cable again but no matter how tight i did it, it still wouldnt go into gear until i think i did it too tight and it started squeeling really loud. I look in the transmission and see that the TOB was loose and sitting on the clutch fingers off centered. So i install a clutch, pilot bearing, TOB, and clutch cable myself but the problem is still the same. The flywheel looked good still so i left it but really not too sure. Nothing was installed backwards, everything is right as far as i know. I was careful to make sure of this and my friend whos a mechanic came and took it all apart to check my work but everything was fine and he cant seem to figure it out. So im kinda stick right now trying to figure it out on my own. Through my research im thinking its the synchros. And thinking about doing it myself because i cant afford a rebuild right now. Was told it had an engine swap and transmission seemed good. Says over 200,000 miles but idk. Had an aftermarket clutchquadrant, firewall adjuster, clutch cable, and short throw shifter already when i got it. I also changed the transmission fluid. Also when i try to force it into fear it will so to go in but then start grinding really hard immediately. The squeeling noise stopped after i adjusted the cable. Ive tried adjusting the cable up and down across the board but still nothing. Oh and also it goes into gear with the car off. And before i put the new clutch if i would put it into 1st then start the car it would jump the car forward. Sorry this is so long im just trying to be informative. Any advice would greatly be appreciated because i dont have anything else. Thank you.
