Back during the summer a local guy was selling a BRAND NEW never taken out of the plastic/boxes set of AFR 185's. He offered them to me for $1300 but at the time I really had my sights set on some other mods and passed them up. I talked to him again lastnight and he says he still has them, and this time told me if I seriously wanted them he would take $1200. Sound like a good deal to you guys? I'm in the market for a set of heads anyway to go on my recently purchased 347 shortblock.

It's a good price, but for a 347 I'd go bigger. They are nice heads tho.

My Procomps would be perfect for a 347, but only because i spent a shitload of unnecessary money trying to make filet mignon from rump roast.

I keep hearing different opinions from different people. Some are saying 'yea those heads would be great for a 347' while others say I'll be wishing I had stepped up to something bigger.....at the same time, my machine shop offered me a set of TF 190's that had been CNC ported and whatnot that were comparable to a 205-210 for around the same price as these AFR heads I'm looking at now. And I had people telling me those were way outta my efficiency range for a 347.

Either way I don't think I'm gonna pass them up this time, soon as I can round up the $ they're mine!

Even if you don't use them you could easily sell them and make a lil extra. Tons of folks would be willing to pay just a lil more for those!!!

summit sells them for $1362.85 free shipping, so $1200 isn't that great of a deal

He said they were new. But yea, $1362 is a great price. Had no idea they came down so much, I remember them for $1600.

Beat the dude down to a grand @ElrodKTPQ_89

That's what they're going for on Late model Resto as well, $1600.

I may offer him a little less but still a good enough deal to get em if he stands firm on the price. He also has a 331 shortblock for sale but I had already gotten waaaaay too good of a deal for the 347 lol.

Which 185's are they? The Street Outlaw or the Renegade? AFR revamped their heads a little while back and improved the flow somewhat. AFR165 Renegades flow about equivalent to old 185 Street Outlaws, and the AFR185 Renegade flow equivalent to the next higher up Street Outlaw (don't know what it is off the top of my head). For Renegades, that price is really good, as they tend to go for about $1500 to $1600 fully assembled. I imagine the older version would fetch a lower price, so if they are Street Outlaws, then maybe not such a great price.

I would think AFR185 Renegades would work well for your engine. Make sure you have a matching intake capable of the higher flow.

I am not 100% sure on that but I thinking they are Renegades. I'll have to ask him and find out for sure. As far as the intake goes, my initial plan was to have my cobra lower sent to TMoss like ttocs did, but I wouldn't totally dismiss the idea of a different intake.
